[PPGT] Après Ski | Avs @ Knights | The Shootout in the Desert Edition

  1. There weren’t really any goals allowed that I thought wedge should definitely have had. A lot of tips, deflections and a partial break. But we found a way to win like we always do and even won in a shootout!

  2. Rare rough game for Burns. I gotta say, I thought he was cooked when he signed with us, but we are definitely getting our money’s worth with him. He’s probably the best 6th defenseman we’ve signed in a long time. The fact that he appears to have unlocked Manson somehow is just icing on the cake.

  3. I still can’t really believe this game lol and I think it took some years from all of us who watched.

The whiplash from feeling like it was the worst game of the season when Cale went down the tunnel and Sissons scored with 4 to go, to the elation of when Cale came back and Lehky came in clutch AGAIN and we finally won a shootout off the most phenomenal shot from Nate. Just wow. Who needs drugs when you’ve got hockey.

Had to overcome the fucking refs, and being the team that had to fly 2+ hours on game day, and our defense being optional.

  4. I only bring this up to generate discussion, as you cannot be disappointed in a team that is 9-0-1. With that in mind…

Have not been a big fan of the third line recently. Bednar seems to not be either considering 3C has been a revolving door. It started with Drury, who’s been demoted back to the 4th. Colton got a look, and now, for the past two games, Brindley has quietly slotted in. With the Utah game going well, while absolutely getting shelled in this one. Practically, you cannot go into the playoffs with Brindley as 3C, and I love the kid.

Olafsson has been a bit of a dissapointment, as he’s been extremely streaky. Only 3 points in December, and half of his total points came in 5 games between Oct 26 and Nov 9.

All that to say I think all signs (including Bednar’s public statements) point to the Avs going hunting for a center at the deadline. That will allow the natural wingers to play their position, and the resulting backlog will mean that we have plenty of options to play who’s hot.

  5. Our heat map looks crazy, we have like 2 other distinct splotches with at least 3 further away. Gotta be incredibly frustrating for opposing team to deal with
