  2. I still wonder how he’s going to evolve without the puck, it’s nice that he’s got lots of talent but I keep hearing that it’s positioning that’s missing from him, hopefully this aspect of his game will grow

  3. Posted this is the WJC thread, but if Hage turns out, we have all under 30 except Matheson at 31:

    Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
    Demidov-Hage-Newhook
    Dach-Kapanen-Bolduc
    Texier-Evans-Beck

    Hutson-Dobson
    Guhle-Reinbacher
    Matheson-Carrier

    Fowler
    Dobes/Monty

Still a few questions, and I think the teams really wants to see if Newhook plays like he did at the beginning of the season when he comes back, and if Slaf is going to remain on the 2nd line and/or if we ever make a splash for a big name talent. Because right now it seems like we have 5 top 6 forwards (if we include Hage), but that could be fine with the right chemistry. Right now I like Slaf with Demidov and Kapanen, but I’m concerned about Bolduc on the 1st.

  4. Hage looks good, mckenna does not look like a first overall pick though. I think he is sliding at least a few picks.

  5. He’s been pretty good but I just don’t see how he’s anywhere near ready to be the 2c as early as next year like many people are saying. I’m not even sure he will be a centre at the NHL level.

His shot is unbelievable and I like his board play too.

  6. Remember we called KK bambi back then. We said of Dach and Slaf that they were not strong enough and always on their back. Hage will go trought the same path

  7. Hage seems to have high level iq in the offensive zone, I think he will be a good fit with Demidov. Slaf keeps going beast mode retrieving pucks and Hage and Demidov create the scoring chances.

  8. 3 for 21 on face-offs after the loss that led to Latvia’s tying goal.  Backup goalie could be doing better.

  9. Isles fan coming in peace:

Martone reminds me of a flyer, he’ll fit in there.

    Hage reminds me of Barzal.

As a psu fan and grad, McKenna looks the same to me, super skilled player but lacks a motor or visible hustle, doesn’t noticeably drive play but clearly does impact it in ways the average viewer doesn’t notice.

As an isles fan, was hoping to see Aitcheson dominate but I think he plays offensively in the CHL and is going to need years to develop his defensive game like most dmen do.
