Andrew Heaney announced his retirement

  1. Thats my guy! Always been a fan of his. He’s played for both my teams and won a World Series with them both so I’m happy he had a serviceable career. Got to see him play multiple times at Dodgers Stadium and Globelife. Technically, went out as a champion too!

  2. As a Rangers fan, I always appreciated his realism in his post-game interviews (which you can also see in this retirement message).

A high variance five-and-dive guy that grew up rooting for this team (OKC native) that got to be part of the special ‘23.

Made sense to call it now that he’s gotten his 10 year service time (sorry Pirates fans for the tough watch).

  3. Wow that trade and flip when we moved Dee and Miggy for Kiké and Barnes (and Heaney) was eleven years ago. Feels like yesterday

  4. A shame he never had an All-Star season, but a solid career nonetheless, and (as the picture shows) capped off by hardware. Wish him the best.

  5. Just seemed like an all around good dude. Glad he got a ring with someone. Had some good ass games with the Halos. He was Skaggs’ bestie and it was tough watching him go through all that.

  6. I will continue to get him and Dylan Bundy mixed up until the end of time, even though I know one is a lefty and one is a righty.

  7. Heaney had such a hell of a career lol. Went from being one of the only good Angels pitchers, to being one of the worst Yankees pitchers of all time but starting the Field of Dreams games because of rest and injuries and whatnot, and then becoming a god for the Dodgers, then a world series champion, and then pitching one game for the world series champion dodgers.

He is amazing and honestly I’d still love to see him pitch but good for him for going out on top

  8. Re-posting my comment from the Angels s/:

I always thought Heaney had the arm to be a star, but was always too much in his own head about it all. He was always seemed like a thoughtful guy, easy to relate to, and easy to root for. I’ve never read one crooked word about him as a human being from any teammate, coach, or reporter. As much as I was frustrated with him at times, I enjoyed him tremendously as an Angel.

Via con dios, bro. Here’s hoping for a great second act for a good guy.

  9. Nothing but respect for the Heandog. Really underrated part of that WS team. He was really vocal about how much his ego was second to winning, so if that meant he got moved from the rotation to the pen he was happy to do it to make sure we won. Love that guy.
