I agree with Jeff, that we will eventually get an answer from CY. Unfortunately, it will be a Corporate/Front Office well said reason. That will be really no answer at all.
It’s coming across the last few years. As if CY is trying to buy time until the last second and go shopping in the dollar store bin for relievers. Hoping to put together a bubble gum bullpen & find some guys who will bite on 1yr 1mil deals pitching for extensions.
Example: Kirby Yates, David Robertson, Shawn Armstrong, Chris Martin.
At some point, there has to be some sort of identity put together. Right now there’s question marks all over the place. Tons of lefty hitters, which will allow other teams to stack lefties in 3 game series against the Rangers.
They have about 75% of the offense that have high ceilings. But overall, don’t look happy, don’t look like they have good chemistry & are injury prone In recent history (long term Seager.)
Seager is the only one that you feel like you know you can plug in & hes going to hit .270 25-30hr 85rbi & play 110 games out of 162 if we catch a break with some luck.
2023 was Jon Daniel’s roster he put together & CY took over. He has regressed since & depleted the farm. It’s confusing to be vocal & publicly say “we are being cheap not spending money.” As you enter free agency and expect free agents to take you serious.
If I’m a free agent, I look at the fall off in 2yrs. I look at CY saying in 2023 this is just the start and they’re not going to be a one & done. Then they’ll be on most free agents bottom list destinations to go too.
The only team with (3) hitting instructors. Once again, no identity there. Kevin pillar comments were heavy & true. Joc as happy as he is everywhere looked miserable.
The best thing to do is trade Seager to Boston. Get 3 high prospects from a loaded system and you get more depth, start an identity & get some life back in the clubhouse & on the field product.
They’re about 2yrs away from Degrom & Eovaldi retiring or winding down. With only Leiter to be the fill in. It’s looking pretty bad & looking like it’s either going to turn around or implode in a year or two.
I like that yall will call stuff for what it really is. As opposed to sugar coating and toeing the corporate line. CY had us thinking we were headed towards Steve Cohen levels in 2022-23. To 2000-2005 Rangers.
Time will tell…
No. This team is dead on arrival.
