Honestly would’ve rather seen Catton reassigned than Nyman, not saying Catton doesn’t graft but Nyman just has that extra something for me
hes looked rusty when he played from all the scratches so I think getting some top line minutes in Coachella to get his confidence back up will be great for him.

Took them long enough. I’m sorry, but this is another situation of mishandling a prospect. If they felt like he wasn’t ready, he should have been down there all season. Also worries me on how they will handle prospects with high offensive upside.
I wonder why we didn’t let Catton go to the Junior championships, maybe he didn’t want to go?
Assuming this is essentially a swap for Melanson, I’d say it’s a major upgrade.
Nyman visibly improved throughout the year, but he’s slow and gets knocked around a lot in battles for the puck. He has a good shot, but a liability in all other areas of the game.
He’ll be back eventually, sad for Jani but the ice time will be good for him.

Okay I’m sleep deprived bc I forgot the Firebirds were our affiliate team for about 7 seconds and nearly pitched a damn fit thinking we traded him away
We’re excited to have Jani with the Firebirds for as long as we can have him. Hopefully he gets some time on the ice at tomorrow’s game!
Jani looked good at the end of last season and very early on this year. It does not feel like he has been able to adjust to the new systems and responsibilities under Lambert.
If we can get him to sync better he has what some project as the second best shot on the team behind McCann. Shot speed, accuracy, instinct and shoot first mentality that we need.
I was lucky enough to see his very first goal in the US down in Cochella. When he is clicking his shot is killer. He just has not been finding the right place in our systems this year to capitalize on his strengths.
From what I have heard Laxdal and coaching staff are helping to install the foundations of the system Lambert is using. So getting more ice time down there will hopefully help Jani gel more with the Kraken expectations.

Get him mins, let him develop. When I watched him play in San Jose he looked significantly slower than everyone else. We need his shot, he’s a future top six but it’s not going to happen this year
