Kaner is back. Makes sense but the bottom 6 better watch out because he looked like he belonged out there.
Damn, I was hoping he would stick with the team. He looked good and has consistently generated offense.
Understandable enough. Godspeed Leonard and go get that Calder
We appreciate the help, John.
He will be called back up before the end of the regular season. Guy is solid
Understood. But can’t wait until he’s back. Godspeed!
He did a phenomenal job. He’ll be back.
Loved his game and his story. Good chance he comes back.
Leonard is the real deal
Soda back on the third line it sounds like, and they’d probably rather have Leonard in GR then just as a fourth liner
Got some NHL money and decent playing time so good for him. Go fuck up the A, my lad.
I feel bad, but shouldn’t Kasper go down and get his game back?
Should have been Kasper. Leonard has been very useful since he’s been up and Kasper has been useless
Don’t feel to bad your replacement was Patrick Kane
He was gonna be subjected to waivers if he kept playing. This was bound to happen.
He’ll be back, with MBN hopefully
Undeniable talent. We are lucky he is in the system, and GR will love having him back.
Dang but also yay as a Griffins fan
I know there are all kinds of contract/union/salary stuff that comes into play in these situations. I’d love to be enlightened by someone more knowledgeable.
I will say that he’s been very successful from what I’ve seen and I hope he gets another shot. I like his compete.
I’m very happy for GR even though I felt he did a great job up there. He definitely wouldn’t have cleared waivers if they kept him up much longer.
Sorry to see this, John looked like a better player than several of the current forwards.
Why does it seem like some people never get what’s deserved while others get way too many chances?
Even with the griffins losing their top goal scorer they’ve still won. Now their getting him back and will continue to do so
Like the griffins needed anymore help
So the roster was at 23 players with Leonard and everyone else healthy. They didn’t have to send him down. Leonard obviously wouldn’t clear waivers so Steve is likely looking to keep that roster spot open in case he’s able to make a move of some kind or bring somebody else up.
In a few months, he’ll be part of the Black Aces 2.0…..
Whats awesome is that we have such competition that even our AHL guys are capable stop gaps.
Our best AHLers used to reside on our 4th line.
He fit in.
The Top 6 is now Larkin, Raymond, DeBrincat, Kane, Copp, and Finnie. With JVR on the squad, there’s not much extra room for a scoring forward with everyone else healthy. He’ll be back though, everyone likes the guy and he was a boon on the power play.
I think he should’ve stayed
This is probably just to give a helping hand to GR. They’re kinda struggling.

If a move is made to get rid of some of the dead weight in the bottom 6 he will be the first man up, did not look at all out of place so some guys better start watching how they are playing cause the replacement is there and there are only more reinforcements coming
His scoring and playmaking were worth it in such a short period. It’s almost like if you could squeak some dead weight out he’s probably got room.
Leonard has put everyone else on notice and the Wings now know what they have. So other players will have to perform not only with points, but also with hustle, compete, grinding, energy and attitude or they will be replaced.
Hopefully this move was to clear a space for Sebastian Cossa and put Talbot in the press box much of the time until he is needed.
I heard they pulled some scrub off of IRL to hold his spot for him while he’s down rescuing the Griffins.

It’s too bad, he played great. But I get why.
