Binnington, Parayko to play for Team Canada at Olympics

  1. I’m curious how team Canada feels about Binner starting? Does he? Of if he does has a very short leash?

  2. Being surrounded by a great team should bring the best out of them. I’m so disappointed that Thomas’s underachieving took him out of the question for making this team. He was very much in the mix before this season.

  3. I feel like he potentially could play better with a stacked lineup/team playing with him? But like others said, short leash too. My thoughts. But also think goalies who have done better this year over him deserve priority. Unfortunately.

  4. Also I know it’s not talked about much but 55 has quietly had a good year. Hes not putting up the numbers but defensively has been very solid!

  5. I’m kinda surprised about Parayko. Not having a great season although he hasn’t been bad. Kinda figured someone else would’ve emerged. Glad for him though!

  6. About what I expected, Binner was unreal in 4 nations final OT, is a seasoned player, and has a cup. He also feeds on pressure like no other

His first half regular season numbers are also historically shaky. He has been worse this year but defense is also doing him no favors

With a better team around him he’ll hopefully do better in the bright lights but with a VERY short leash (if he starts)

Any softies and I expect they ride with Thompson quickly

    excited for our boy!

  7. If Binner starts and gets hot it will be a classic USA/Blues fan dichotomy between:

    – Want Binner to succeed and have all the haters eat crow

    – Want team USA to get the Gold

  8. Despite all of his efforts to get an extra vacation Doug Armstrong cruelly forces Binnington to keep playing hockey because he played well in an OT last year.

The moral of this story is to never try.

Cool for Parayko I guess. Not jersey-purchase worthy. Would be far more interested if Broberg would make team Sweden but that D-corps is pretty stacked. Assuming Dvorsky is making Slovakia so I might go there.
