Cavs are heating up!!!!!
When Wemby came back and was coming off the bench, he was fitting into what they had going while he was gone, and they looked unstoppable. Then he went back in the starting line-up and it felt like they were running everything through him again and getting mediocre results (again). HE obviously still maybe the best talent in the league, but I think this, if nothing else, is going to bring up some awkward conversations.
They shot poorly agaisnt Utah and Cleveland while turning the ball over far too much agaisnt the Cavs. If they win agaisnt the Knicks tonight nobody will care about a two game skid. If they lose it than yes let's start to see what's going wrong
Wemby changes the chemistry dynamic that was built in his absence; I think that they need to adjust his roles for particular lineups, for example with the starters his role should be strictly defensive without any plays being called for him or trying to get him the ball, treat him like Kornet.
When Fox or Vassell subs out now his role changes to offense and he gets the green light to attack and orchestrate the game.
He will succeed with multiple roles
To me, the biggest threat to the Spurs is teams that have good 3-point shooting. They just don't seem to have any answer to it, and that has been a big weakness for a long time.
Spurs biggest issue is using Wemby like a 5 who only set pick and roll when they want him involve in the offense.
Its so overly reactionary that you make a video about what's wrong with them when they had two bad games after 2 wins and are facing decent teams. They missed some shots, its not crazy complex
Yeah way more screening actions with the Wemby minutes, inverted pick an rolls with the guards, and better screening by Wemby, when he screens its rare for it to be successful forcing a switch or give space for the ball handler. Defenders just step around his screens with ease.
The Spurs should go after AD right now that his price is low. Offer Sochan, Vassel and a pick, 3 young assets for Dallas to help on their re building..
As a Spurs fan I am not worried at all.
Every team doesn't have the Cavs lineup. So it won't work for every team. I did notice them inviting them to shoot though. Even as a Spurs fan I think that's a brilliant defensive scheme
