  1. The difference between the George Young era and now is the way players are obtained and retained. The draft was at one point 12 rounds. There was no real free agency and once you had a player he was yours to develop. Also, no salary cap to worry about. Today the draft is 7 rounds, players can walk after 4 years and once you pay your QB you have to scrimp on most of the rest of the roster. Now as a GM must hit on a player and that player really doesn’t have time to develop. Problem is Joe Schoen hasn’t hit on a majority of his player personnel decisions. Unfortunately, I don’t see things changing anytime soon.

Great video and I agree Schoen coming back is not the right move, but to be fair I can’t see ownership letting Schoen sell off pieces coming off a playoff run and making us less competitive on paper. Plus Daboll has unique culpability because of his beef with Wink which we’ve never recovered from. We couldn’t get any viable DC because Daboll had such a bad reputation. But again I agree, cleaning house is the right move

  4. Keeping Schoen is a kick in the pants to those of us in the fanbase who’ve actually experienced accountability in the workplace. We all have the same excuses: we inherited a bad situation, there are others to blame, there are factors beyond our control, etc. It doesn’t matter. The boss expects results not excuses. Except John Mara.

  6. Signing Jones and tagging Barkley was an obvious mistake to true giants fans. Saquon was and is an elite rb. Jones had one decent season. As a giants fan I liked him and wanted him to be successful, but never trusted that he would be. Jones should have gotten the tag since he only had one good season, meanwhile Barkley was consistently elite when not injured
