OEL makes sense he’s having a good rebound year for the leafs but Edvinsson should’ve been in over Broberg and Brodin. Unfortunate for sure.

So after looking at the rosters for both Sweden and the USA and reading the comments on both threads about why this player over that player.
I have noticed people are forgetting the one big thing players have the right to decline to play and with the way the League schedules a few teams the RedWings specifically with heavy back to back and multiple games with only travel days as down time.
A lot of the players people are wondering are probably turning down the invite so they can rest.
Just my thoughts on the matter
Next Olympics it might be Ed and Axel as their second D pair

Bro: 0.289 PPG, 103 hits, 226 blocks
On top of that, bigger, more physical, ~~possibly~~ better skater ~~?~~ !
Pretty dangerous team. Really the only change I’d make is going Ed over Broberg, but I can see why he was left off when he hasn’t even played 150 games in the NHL yet.

With the news that was coming out of Italy about the venue I can see Players putting their safety over a gold medal that in the long run means less than Stanley Cup on there resume come contract time
If Hedman doesn’t recover they can just replace one 77 with another
I could see a Sweden-Canada gold medal game

I get why it happens, but I’d really like to see the Olympic teams GM’d by someone who isn’t an active NHL GM. The favoritism is too blatant.
I’m surprised, like all of you, that Ed wasn’t picked. I guess we can look on the bright side that he gets some time off and won’t be risking an injury in the Olympics. For sure, next Olympics, Ed and ASP will both be on the roster and mainstays on the Swedish blue line for many years to come.
