4 hunches on why the Chicago White Sox failed to LAND Japanese star pitcher Tatsuya Imai
The Chicago White Sox miss out on Tatsuya Imai as the Houston Astros land the Japanese pitching star—was it ownership penny-pinching or Scott Boras’s influence?
The Imai sweepstakes spotlight payroll limitations under Jerry Reinsdorf, agent dynamics, and the challenge of luring elite talent to the South Side. Insightful analysis uncovers why the Munetaka Murakami signing was the exception, not the rule, and how opt-outs, AAV, and market competitiveness shaped the outcome.
Host Todd Welter explores the financial ramifications of missing Imai, the business of expanding into Japan, and how the Sox’s rebuild might hinge on future ownership. Debates over retaining Jordan Leasure heat up, as advanced stats signal a potential closer breakout. Fan poll results reveal hope and frustration—will the White Sox ever operate like a big-market club, or is cautious optimism all fans can rely on?

It was a long shot from the beginning with. 99% of the time we as fans have no idea what happens behind the scenes. The fact we did land MM (was also a long shot) who is a Japanese superstar is contemplating that their reputation could be improving once Justin Ishbia is the new owner sometime in the 2030’s. This is just my opinion though🤷♀️.
You were expecting Jerry to spend money on a pitcher?
This was a Boras client, he drives up the price so he can enrich himself. With the posting Fee, wasn’t worth it. Let’s go get an innings eater!
please release Luigi Mangione from jail or prison, so that he can take care of Jerry Reinsdorf & Scott Boras.
I was so convinced we were gonna get him
Sox were not paying over 20 million for 1 season
Jerry went under his mattress once he wasn't going back there a second time especially for a pitcher!
Yankees fans are very upset l, we are having a better off-season than them 😊
Jerry needs to be visited by 3 ghosts.
Reinsdorf is such a miser, I think someone just like him found the 1st penny, and that's how copper wire was invented
That sucks I thought we were going to get him obviously they don't want to spend money once again pitching is the most important part
