He will inevitably wind up playing about 50 games for this apparently-broke franchise when they rush Volpe back for merchandise sales and he doesn’t hit right away from his shoulder surgery.

His Blue Jays tenure was one of the worst stretches of baseball I’ve ever seen. Him hitting a homer in his first AB after getting DFA’d was peak comedy. Blue Jays legend, up there with shutdown reliever Brad Hand.

It blows my mind that this guy is not a perennial MVP candidate considering the way he plays against the Mets.

Maybe he’s just there as a locker room guy. Not sure how he was on other teams but he might be a great veteran leader. His stats are not great and doesn’t necessarily fill a need.
