Heading into yesterday’s action, there were 422 players with 400+ minutes at 5-on-5 this year. Morgan Rielly had been on for more goals against per minute than anyone else. Last nights game didn’t help, Rielly was a -4 in a 4-3 loss.

Oof this is a brutal list. Kind of surprised about JT but Willie is probably weighing him down in that regard
Yeah, he’s not good. At this point, it’s not about finding him the right d-partner. We’ve seen enough to know he’s the problem. And, if they keep pairing him with Stetcher, he’ll drag him down too. Time to move him into bottom pairing minutes, scratch him or trade him.
Is this a league wide list? How are there four leafs on here … and wtf Nylander?!?
Surprised Domi isn’t higher, he’s been a big time liability out there this year.

Guys been a defensive sieve for a few years now, kills us in the playoffs. Always been solid offensively but horrendous defensively for a while now, can’t wait to move on to someone new in his spot.
When you have multiple players this high from one team on one list it’s a system/coaching/team issue.
I know people are using this stat to bury Rielly, but having 3 other Leafs on this list is pretty counter intuitive to the argument.
Up until the Savard firing our play style was setting our best players up for failure.
Reilly wants a Jake Gardiner -7 in one game.
Can we see the top 15 list? I’m sure at least 1 more leaf appears
I have no idea what Rielly was thinking on the overtime goal. Knies was closing in on the puck carrier so Rielly should have been looking around for a man to cover instead of defending him, too. As a veteran NHL defenseman he should have more awareness of where his opponents are and where he should be, yet he seems to consistently chasing the puck, if he’s not getting turnstiled like Schaefer did to him.
What will u say when he scores 2 goals next game?

I’d like to see an extended stint with Tavares and Willy split when he’s back. Nylander w/ Roy, maybe more touches, and Roy focusing on the defensive side of the puck.

This would be a by product of mid level defensive forwards dragged further down by suboptimal defending Ds
If Berube is not going to sit Reilly then at least take away his minutes and/or put him with defensive forwards that can unfuck his mistakes.
I’ve never understood not putting tanev with Reilly. A guy who’s +/- is insanely good would surely help Riellys disastrous play. Its the unstoppable force vs an immovable object type of thing. Mccabe, Boy Troy Stetcher and OEL can essentially play anywhere with anybody. The only one that needs babysitting is Reilly. The coaching staff has to address this in one way or another

The thing most people fail to mention or realize is that Reilly isnt a number 1 defenceman and hes been treated as one by the Leafs basically his whole career.
