Extend Caley right now!!!! Jk but still a crazy stat

  1. So really that’s four years of apples to apples since we’ve moved to a 17 game season.

  2. Feels like an indictment on previous regimes more than anything else. I guess having an extra game will do wonders, especially if the defense also has an amount of defensive scores too.

  3. lol I just pointed this out in the other thread.

Most ever was 416 in the 2012 season. Third most was 402 in 2018.

They’ve only cracked 400 three times in team history.

  4. What is the breakdown on how many of those are defensive scores or Fairbairn’s extra points and field goals?

  5. The dreaded 17 game season. This offense has been elite in the NFL at moving the ball between the 20’s. Just have to get down the redzone part. Same glaring issues when they get close. The penalties pop up frequently down there and I can’t even tell you why that is other than coaching not having them focus.

I understand the fanbase hates the word close, but they truly aren’t terribly far off if they can get better mentally in the redzone. Despite all the flack Stroud gets, he does not turn the ball over in the redzone. He is doing his job really well down there.

  6. Maybe the worst Texans offense I’ve ever watched. Scored the 2nd most points in franchise history. How do I make sense of this?

  7. In addition to the 17-game season, I believe that new kickoff rules also help with scoring as offenses quite consistently start at 35 yard line. This is not based on stats though, I would like to see what the average starting position after kickoff was compared to previous years..

  8. NO SHIT? We’ve definitely watched some terrible offenses over the years. Maybe it’s the extra game?

  9. So 144 of those points were from field goals – 132 from Kaimi and the rest from M Wright.

  10. While this is also kind of a skewed stat because of 17 games- this has, I think been the most difficult watch and most struggle we have seen from a playoff-worthy Texans offense.

I don’t care what the points scored are, we won games because of our defense and our offense doing just barely enough and I don’t really think anyone who has watched us play without any biased or excuses could disagree with that. If that gets us to the big game, then that’s our formula for this year. But Caley should still be gone. The only game that instilled any real confidence in him from me was SF and we went right back to the struggle bus on offense after.

I know CJ wanted more control and more ownership of what we do on offense but I don’t think THIS scheme with THIS playcaller is best for him or for us going forward.

  11. We are 6th in net points.

We have OVER 10 TIMES MORE net points as the Steelers.

We sored MORE points then the Broncos.

I’m sick of the offensive doom & gloom on this sub.

This was a GOOD offensive season.

Yes I know there are issues. Red zone offence is not good enough.

It may be division bias, as there are two treams with more points in our division.
But guess what: THREE of the top 7 offenses in the AFC play in the south. And for perfect clarity: The tits aren’t one of them

  12. I am not a Caley defender and I mostly hate our offense, but it’s sadly one of the best ones we have had in years. Crazy to think it could and should have been better.

  13. what’s #1? I imagine it’s one of the Watson playoff years or one of the Schaub-AJ-Foster years

  14. Our biggest issues: untimely turnovers to put our defense in bad spots and lack of ball control/too many 3 and outs. We have no rhythm to the offense and that’s the biggest key issue.

  15. It’s good for 14th in the NFL. Slightly above average was not what I expected.

  16. Curious how this relates to the extra game so a quick google search reveals that the Texans averaged 23.8 points per game which would be tied for 6th best in franchise history.

  17. Is Caley learning and improving? If the answer is yes, I think we may have to bring him back. Having a 4th offensive coordinator in 4 years doesn’t seem like a great idea either.

  18. It helps when you start every drive around the 30 to 35 because of the new NFL rules instead of the 20. And the new kicking balls rules.

  19. Normalized for number of games played, this is the 7th most points scored per game in the regular season.

  20. The red zone offense needs help. Some of the play calling needs to be centered around what the Texans bring to the table. Bring in a proper Fullback (Andrew Beck). But overall, he did good this season

  21. now remove all the points scored by the defense (maybe even remove some of the points gifted to the offense within the 10 yard line). AKA only compare the points scored by the offense

  22. 7th most points per game normalized for # of games. Out of only 24 seasons? Despite new kick off rules that helps field positioning? Lmao congratulations?
