Listed are:
Jim Schwartz (our DC)
Tommy Rees (our OC)
Joe Brady (Buffalo’s OC)
Robert Saleh (SF’s DC, former NYJ HC)
Brian Flores (Minnesota’s DC, former Miami HC)
Matt Nagy (KC’s OC, former Chicago HC)
Mike McCarthy (former GB and Dallas HC)
Chris Shula (LAR DC)
Jesse Minter (LAC DC)
Jonathan Gannon (Arizona HC who was also fired today, former Philly DC, Cleveland native who went to St. Ignatius)
This team is a defensive coaches dream. That being said, this league is currently officiated for more points and the browns aren’t built for it. They need an offensive coach to compete. Fuck, they need to consistently score over 23 points. You win by scoring more. It’s easier to do that when you can score and have even a middle tier defense.
Fuck it’s going to be McCarthy isn’t it
Ugh the only defensive ones on here outside of Schwartz that are like even moderately appealing are Shula and Saleh in terms of their match for our defensive personnel to their systems.
Not a ton of interest in Brady and McCarthy or Nagy are like worst case scenario level bad
Please for the love of god, not fucking Nagy. I can get over anyone else, but not Nagy
I would much prefer an offensive HC and keeping Schwartz if possible. The defense is the easy part with this team – we need a coach who can build an offense from scratch.
I am also technically a possible candidate
Really hoping for Shula, Saleh or Minter, preparing for McCarthy, Gannon or Nagy.
McCarthy is not as bad as you guys are making him out to be
MKC is really trying to make Gannon a thing. The only reason to hire him is if Haslam desperately wants Manning first overall in 2027.
Schwartz already has the respect of the players… It would make sense to go that route
The worst hire we could make is Coach Prime, so don’t count that out
For the love of god, Joe Brady and we keep Swhwartz
This list is so depressing
I’ve wanted Schwartz at HC for a while. Would love this. Think he’s learned a lot since his last stint and while his defense isn’t perfect, our defensive identity and attitude has set the tone for this team.
Retaining Schwartz is more important than retaining Stefanski. Let that sink in.
Kubiak?
Flores completely fucks the defensive scheme up. This is what’s gonna happen. Book it.
Anymore of those Belichick or McVay assistants laying around somewhere?
Hire Schwartz as HC.
Bring in a youngster to be DC. Maybe a James Laurinaitis type.
Hire Brian Callahan as OC and Bill as OL coach.
Jim Shorts is the only way I see this working
lol we gonna have another shit coach for three years
I’m sure she or Tony asked if they would consider Schwartz and got a noncommittal answer about them considering everyone, and they printed this headline – rather than an actual source giving the information with the absence of a leading question.
Rees, Brady, Ganon, Nagy—losers we will be coach hunting in 3 years.
Saleh, Shula, Minter—meh wake me up when we can score more than 17
Flores—ain’t coming here; he’s the top candidate and will go to Vegas.
McCarthy-whatever milque toast but at least he’s won before so worth a shot
Schwartz: just give him the job. Whatever. He’s fine deserves a 2nd shot. Has roots here. D guys like him.
I don’t think the correct answer is on this list.
I personally would want Grant Udinski. What he has done in elevating the WRs in Jacksonville, along with elevating Trevor Lawrence, even revitalizing Trevor Etienne has been impressive.
He was also a big factor in Minnesota last year…
That ma has been learning from Coen and O’Connell..
That’s the guy I want to rebuild this damn mess that we have on offense in Cleveland.
I really want Schwartz. Our offense can be fixed with the right OC and positional coaches.
Our generational defense would continue with Schwartz as the head coach
Every defensive player wants him to stay and move up, Cleveland loves him.
Make Jim Shorts permanent
I have zero faith in Haslam not fucking this up…
Jim Schwartz would be the biggest mistake ever!
He needs to focus 100% on our defense to keep us where we are and keep improving.
This would be a total asshat Haslam move.
Tired of one step fwd two steps back.
When building an organization or as he called it today (a product, lol) you don’t cut off the good leg and attach it above the shoulders. Maybe he should hire a new owner.
