Frustrating to say the least.
We’re such a bad team in the clutch. We have 24 seconds and the plan is to do a Maxey iso where he dribbles off 20 seconds and no one moves? VJ and Maxey had essentially two more chances in OT. Nothing as expected. There’s bad execution, and then there’s a bad plan. We do both.
Joel was horrible in the clutch but let’s not forget we lost the lead when he was sitting early last quarter. Gassed and he’s generally turnover prone in the clutch. Sucks but we have to game plan around that especially when he isn’t used to playing 40 minutes.
PG was non existent. Embarrassing effort.
Obviously they got unreasonably hot but that was in part because our defense was just awful. So many open threes and layups.
Play-in bound.
If Undertaker entrusted Nick Nurse with his WM streak pre-2014, Nurse would lose to some jobber like Trent Barretta or Curt Hawkins
Doc > Nurse. This game has sealed it.
We need oubre back. Him and VG are the only true DAWGs on this team.
Embiid was still a +8 btw
I just think nobody wanted to shoot at the end of the game. We got like what, 3 or 4 points in overtime? They were just passing and passing and nobody wanted to take the last shot. I think it has to be Maxey.
I’d take Jett Howard over a glorified Tony Allen in Paul George. No joke.
PG has to go, don’t care what it takes at this point. Dude can’t move and I mean that literally.
Having to listen to Rivers glaze the nuggets the whole game because he had a cup of coffee with the team was almost as bad as the loss
I will say I am fully off the McCain train & am fine using him as a trade piece .
Dude calls his own # too much and is a turnstile on defense .
They could’ve easily set up a lob play for VJ and didn’t 😕
The story of the game was the defense. It was terrible.
After that, they got tight late on offense and that was it. Very little composure from the Big 3 down the stretch – lazy execution. Maybe fatigue played a role, but it doesn’t really matter. The defense sold them.
Embiid or Maxey are going to be consistently getting doubled in late game situations during the playoffs. Nurse should be anticipating this and coming up with a better plan.
if Nick Nurse is the dumbest mfer on the planet then I must be #2. I can’t believe this morons book is sitting in my want to read on goodreads
Well not the result I wanted to see immediately after I learned my grades tanked and I’m over a full semester behind now
When Oubre comes back, they should send McCain to the gleague. He clearly needs more reps and Oubre can take on more minutes
How many picks would the thunder be willing to give us for maxey?
Stuck between calling this one to forget because of the amount of absolute bullshit they hit and calling this a fireable offense from Nurse because of the worst late-game execution I’ve seen in some time. Two hour car ride home and then I’m going to bed.
Man, VJ is so good at everything except getting to the rim in the halfcourt. His handle is mid at best, and his touch around the rim is poor. But he’s so good shooting off the catch, connective passing, positional rebounding, and on-ball defense that he’s a high level role player. Can’t wait to see how he looks after a full offseason working on his handle
A hospital roster beats a healthier team in the midst of a win streak on their court. We call that the Doc Special, nurse was absolutely worked gameplanning.
Getting another game on the Knicks would have been nice tbh
Imagine paying a couple grand for courtside seats and you end up stuck next to Austin fucking Rivers. The ludicrous display from the 6ers would just be adding insult to injury at that point.
I’m gonna try not to overreact.. the vibes just this morning were through the roof. Nuggets had a really athletic lineup of dudes who were somehow all hitting every shot, and all the shots we needed most just wouldn’t fall. It’s hard to prepare against a lineup of players who mostly never play. Also, I swear VJ and Maxey have the worst collective whistle in the league. I try hard not to be a ref guy but tonight felt insane. League just agreed maxey is too fast to get calls and VJ is too young
Can’t wait till Oubre comes back.
That should solve a lot of problems. Our best wing player every season despite being paid 1/5th of the salary as the max guy.
Good game guys. Best of the best going at it. A hardened battle.
Wizards up next
They have the second worst record in the east, I expect another dog fight with everyone playing 40+ minutes
If we keeping it a buck, we ass
With 29 seconds left and the ball, with a 1 point lead…the ONE THING YOU MUST DO is get back on defense.
YOU CAN NOT GIVE UP A FAST BREAK LAYUP.
So when VJ misses a very ambitious wild drive, and Joel tries to tip it in…what the hell is Grimes doing standing at the wing.
RUN BACK ON DEFENSE.
If the player doesn’t know what to do with a 1 point lead under 10 seconds left, and the team has 2 timeouts left…sorry that’s all on the coach.
You don’t have to score to win. **They** have to score. You can’t let Bruce Brown beat you on an open fast break layup. That can’t happen. Grimes never got back. That’s on Nurse’s head.
Maxey is not a clutch player. Which isn’t a big deal since he’s already doing so much for the team. And thankfully he’s paired with a guy who might be the clutchest player in the league.
But if they continue to act like Maxey is a clutch player, we’re going to lose many games because of it.
This team owns us now.
It always feels like when things start trending up and people take notice of the team they immediately present you with the worst loss of all time lol
The team is mid. This is just kind of how a mid team looks. They beat some good teams…they lose against some trash teams. Just kind of how it is and has been the whole season.
VJ continues to leave me stunned. He missed the wild layup and didn’t have a great game, but holy shit he was the only one making plays down the stretch. A couple 3s, a block, a steal, a rebound. He finds a way to make an impact.
I also felt like we couldn’t convert a lot of steals today
Sorry but that was embarrassing. I was picking you guys to win by 50.
How did they let those scrubs score more than 80 points lol
Just please tell me we dont have anymore games on peacock.
I might jump off the Ben Franklin if i have to listen to Austin rivers again.
I can’t wait until VJ has time to work on his handle over the offseason . I know that was one of his big weaknesses going into the draft but I believe he will improve .
His 3 point shooting has been exceeding my expectations. Dudes ice cold
It was just the turnovers down the stretch in a close game. Joel played really well but I think he was tired and wasn’t thinking the game at a high level down the stretch. Careless plays.
