  1. Makes sense, hopefully he gets good minutes down there and is ready for next season.

  2. I’ll be honest, quite surprising to me. What else does he need to showcase in the AHL?

  3. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong, but on draft day, I was definitely hoping we would take Zach Benson because he’s more of a goal scorer and we need those

  4. Alright, Leonard staying up! I am sad for the West Michigan part of me. I really liked watching him live.

  5. He’s not helping us win right now as much as Leonard. Pretty simple. We need to make the playoffs.

He will be fine. Kasper will be fine too. MBN will be fine.

  6. For the best. I think he looked pretty good in flashes. I anticipate he and MBN will be ready to go in the fall

  7. Danny has had at least 2-3 goals disallowed. Which sucks but shows he was getting chances. Confidence is everything. He knows he can stick around. Saw and lived NHL life. I’m confident he is going to be a great player. His defensive IQ is fantastic. He has all the tools for offense. Let him cook. The young guys are the future.

  8. Not surprising. He & Kasper are not producing at the NHL level. I would add it’s a big deal for the Redwings future if our top first round picks do not become very good NHL players. The Redwings rebuild will be affected if these guys can’t develop in a timely way. They don’t need these guys to become average NHL players. Shiner & MBN are playing really well. Wondering if either will get a look ?

  9. The best part about any young guy getting sent down after an NHL stint, similar to pre season, is getting direct feedback on exactly what needs to be improved. Nate knows exactly what he needs to work on and that will be his core focus in an environment that will punish mistakes working on it much less severely

  10. Don’t mind this at all. Hope he kills it on GR and can start fresh with the wings next year.

  11. Overall, it’s good that MBN and Danielson got a taste of the NHL and have an idea of where their game is at and what they need to work on. Leonard is just playing extremely well this year and deserves the NHL minutes. Crazy that a 27 year old journeyman can take his game to another level, but he certainly earned his spot.

This makes sense. Need to ice the best roster when fighting for a playoff spot.

  12. Head down, get some top line minutes, come back stronger next year.

He’s going to a powerhouse, so he should be able to work on his game.

  13. He knows what he needs to work on. He will push hard next training camp. Go be brilliant on GRG, Nate.

  14. Absolute right move. He’s not moving the needle for the Wings and Leonard has earned the right to play with the pro-club.

Danielson should get every opportunity to play in high leverage moments for GR – first line, power play, penalty kill. He’s a high floor two-way player but it would be great to see him push his ceiling.

  15. I’m guessing he’s also sent down bc he’s the only one who can be sent down without waivers at this point right?

  16. Kudos to u/roxshot. Read his post the other day suggesting it’s time to send him down.

Sounds like someone on the Wings is reading your post. What’s your next team tip that will come true if you post it? 🙂

  17. Good move. Wish we could do the same for Marco, but it would damage him too much psychologically at this point

  18. Even though Nate didn’t produce many points he impressed me with his size/skill combination, hockey IQ and overall smoothness, fluidity and style of play.

He just wasn’t quite ready to be on this year’s team or for our current coach who is desperately trying to change the organization’s culture, winning expectations, accountability and need to make the playoffs this season.

Many of our other young players have also struggled in this high-pressure, almost desperate environment this season.

If Danielson had come up in previous year’s when we weren’t trying to contend and were expected to be bad or at the bottom of the league I feel he would have been given a long leash, more ice time, more responsibility and just left alone to play and eventually figure it out; even with his same level of current play this season.

I am still expecting very big things from Nate in the future and glad that he is in the organization.

  19. LMFAO. Not only is Danielson looking bust-ish… Now Yzerplan is laying his hopes on a 27 year old journey man who is in all reality a Temu Joe Veleno. But goodluck to yee, Mr Leonard.

  20. He’ll be back. But I’m starting to wonder where we’re going to get a real 2C. Our center depth is awful and both Kasper and Nate aren’t breaking their way into the position. Maybe one of them gets there eventually but if they don’t, we’re kinda fucked unless we find someone deep in the next draft.

Trades and FA are getting pretty brutal for a building team.
