Free throw attempts per game is only a small part of what made OKC effective. The bigger piece, the one Finch was mad about, is that their defenders are allowed to hack with impunity.
It’s ugly to see them flopping on the offensive end, but all anyone really wanted was to see it called both ways.
– strength of schedule increased. Their first 25 games were an absolute cake walk.
– Hartenstein injury. They are missing his rebounding bad
– integration of J Dub
– Cheta funk. Spurs showed how you have to play him physical.
– last Finch Effect. And not in the way people point to. Finch’s outburst I believe was more about discrepancy in the whistle. OKC got a long leash on defense and a soft whistle on offense. Their FTAs have been similar since Finch’s ejection but their defense appears to be whistled tighter and their opponents TOs have dropped. Outside SGA they are not that impressive in the half court and the drop in opponent TOs has decreased fast breaks and efficiency.
Its funny how these internet narratives get going. Finch was complaining about the Thunder fouling on defense not SGAs flopping.
Not a twolves fan but forever grateful for Finch he would never pay for a beer again if I were in MN
I been thinking about it… but i watched the game against hornets and the commentators made some good points. OKC has had a lot of games in 18 nights, bunch of back to backs and traveling so maybe it’s fatigue. They also have been super cold when it comes to role players. so i am not sure if it’s whistles or just tireness and bad shooting

Does anyone know if the “foul” that Ant was bitching about on the court that immediately led up to the ejection was actually a foul at all? I’m not sure if I ever got a close up replay of that. It seemed in the moment like Randle was fouled, but Ant was jumping up and down and waving his arms around before the ball even got to Randle. Was Finch just taking Ant’s reaction at face value and amping up his team? Ultimately doesn’t matter, but it seemed like everyone dropped it after the ejection lol.

OKC is in a slump. I’d rather have this slump come in May. They have time to figure it out.
