đ¨BREAKING NEWSđ¨: Commanders âParting Waysâ With OC Kliff Kingsbury & DC Joe Whitt Jr.
The Washington Commanders have parted ways with OC Kliff Kingsbury and DC Joe Whitt Jr. after a disastrous 5-12 2025 season. For OC Kliff Kingsbury, this comes as a shock as in his first year as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders lead the team to a top 10 offense. This past season, the Washington Commanders dealt with injuries to their stars on Offense and Defense and regressed. DC Joe Whitt Jr. was relieved of defensive playcalling duties during the season and was expected to be let go. Is this a mistake for the Washington Commanders? Jack Sperry breaks it down on todayâs breaking news edition of the Commanders Report by Chat Sports.

Do you like this decision to fire Kliff? Yes or No?
When you fail to make adjustments and lose creativity as a play caller, you will and should be on a short leash. Kliff , like a lot of coordinators, get âstuck in their waysâ and try fitting a square in a circle instead of adjusting the offense to fit the talent of the players. Iâm not mad about the decision and I wish Kliff the best âđž
Kliff was never going to stay long term anyway. Too bad because he was our best coach. Too bad it was an injury riddled season because now weâll never know what could have been. Quinn is definitely on the hot seat now.
Donât tell me weâre gonna hire Kevin Stefanski at oc. Goodness pls donât
No
No!
No
The problem was not on the offensive side, it was the defensive side. This organization is still a screwup.
Yes Kingsbury has some fault, but it wasn't all his fault. We didn't have enough at WR and OL. Really not much at RB as well.
Facts:
1. Adam Peters will now have to rebuild the roster that was created by (checks notes) Adam Peters.
2. In the season ending presser DQ refused to say anything positive about Kliff. When asked about players or coaches in the past he always finds something positive to say.
3. Reports are that they didn't give JD a heads up about Kliff.
Conclusions:
1. AP is incompetent.
2. DQ is under AP's thumb & doesn't have the guts to stand up to him.
3. JD will go elsewhere when his rookie contract is up (if he is not already a cripple.)
4. We are screwed once again. It's the Dan Snyder 2.0 show.
No. No. No.
Kingsbury didn't use Deebo effectively at all.
Joe whitt is the odd man out. Defense wasn't staffed plus injuries. Fall guy.
Give me, Brian Daboll at OC and Raheem Morris at DC
Adam Peters NEEDS TO GO! They will continue to SUCK until he leaves. Kliff should have stayed!
Kliff did great helping jayden transfer over to the NFL. That being said nfl defenses figured out his âcollegeâ scheme and that the offense revolves around jayden. Hopefully we can have a guy like daboll calling a traditional pound-rock offense
Everyone understands the team was injured. You are looking at this simplistically and completely missing the bigger picture and point. Kliff absolutely needed to go. He was the wrong leader for Daniels, and the brain trust agrees.
How much did Kliff pay you to glaze???!!!
Kliff was trash đď¸
Yes I like the decision. I did not like Kliff Kingsbury because he had Jayden Danielâs in the shotgun all the time which teams teed off on him.
Itâs not that, they want someone to play JD5 under center!
They want a Zone scheme running game.
5:59 they had this as a plan from day 1. Let JD5 run a familiar offense the first two years and grow. I believe kliff will add more under the center as part of his coaching strategy moving forward. I believe he would have done it this offseason. Overall itâs the right decision for long term success and JD5âs health!
We need an OC that will take care of JD5 just by the way heâs gonna call plays. Enough with the designed runs for the quarterback. Thatâs the reason he was hurt a lot. I like the change.
Yes. Offense was repetitive and predictable. Shotgun play action doesn't stack up to a pro play action play.
Ummm. Arenât u the pittsburgh steelers guy? None-the-less u do good work
He was likely leaving for a head coaching job anyways. JD will be fine
Quinn will be gone next year if we don't win at least 8 games next year. I didn't like Klingsbury from the start but he actually did a great job. Easily the best coach on the staff. I thought I was going to like Whitt but he sucked flat out. I am not sad to see either go but why start out with them if you didn't believe in their systems. GM scape goated the coaches. HC scape goated the assistant coaches. I hope we go to a 3-4 base D and a run heavy play action and take shots down the field type of O. I'm a lifer but this stuff looks and feels ugly. Hope it works out
He was gonna leave anway. So don't matter.
I think al harris would be the DC. He has a great relationship with DQ and he is the reason for why the bears secondary is so good this year. He also coached that dallas team back when Trevon Diggs and Daron Bland were ballhawks.
This roster was terrible. Kliff was a scapegoat. A.P has been below average as a G.M .
KK doesn't adjust his offensive system. He couldn't figure out how to maximize Terry's talents, and he kept running plays that was putting JD5 in harms way. He was good to introduce JD5 to the league, but we need an O.C. who does what needs to be done to put the team in the best position to win. JD5 needs to keep learning, not just keep doing the same thing over and over while defenses shut us down. Adjustments are needed.
The offense wasnât good even when the they were healthy
