Sorry this is kind of a yap fest also this isn’t a Kliff hate post (I actually really liked the dude) I just wanted to throw my opinion into the void, I don’t necessarily think this is a bad move whatsoever. Yes Kliff had success last year but how much of that was JD5 heroics? Stats aren’t the whole story at all, frankly I’m going to be hopeful that this next oc doesn’t have terry run THE SAME 3 ROUTES for 2 years…Also the hurry up looked great at first last year but honestly got pretty tiring leading to super quick 3 and outs and mistakes. I think Jayden is an amazing pocket passer (I actually think he might be better in the pocket than running) and I just don’t think he would have learned and thrived in this offense consistently even if healthy. I genuinely wish Kliff the best for sure he was a class act but I’m nervously ready for a more steady offensive scheme.

  1. I’m going to try and be cautiously optimistic. Who ever the new coordinators are deserve a shot and I’m not going to doom like many others here on the sub until I see negative results. I’m nervous, but I’m hoping for the best 🤞

  2. Kliff going away is great for us, he has never had a qb stay healthy an entire season not 1 single in college or pro, so thats the first problem. Yhe second amd biggest is play development time is way to long, rub routes are lomg and drawn out and having qb in shotgun 97% of the time is a death sentence for the oline.

Plus im just not a fan, terrible yac and a million other issues. Our offensive line should completely dominateost teams but they dont they are pushing and pulling way to much completely forgetting the basic football scheme

  3. Kliff wasn’t good, BUT you have to replace him with someone better, if the offense regresses it will probably be the end for Quin

  4. Kliff did great in the 2024 season and tapped into the talent on the offense and points were going on the board at will after the first few games. I think people underestimate how difficult it is to do what this offense did with a rookie QB.

I think Kliff would still be the OC but I wonder if he’s exploring other coaching vacancies leading to the split, or how much influence he had in offseason moves that drove the offense backwards. Hard to tell. I’m sure more will be reported on this once the dust settles.

  5. Seriously I don’t think people realize how GOOD of a passer Jayden is. I think Kliff offense hid that a lot.

  6. I’m gonna trust Adam and DQ to do the rught thing and make tbe right hire. Remember, Howie Roseman didn’t win a super bowl until 8 years into his tenure and even had to fire his head coach

  7. It was the right call. We caught lightning in a bottle last year and overachieved. I don’t want to call it a fluke, but I wouldn’t argue too hard if someone called it that.

Ultimately, Kliff’s college-style offense isn’t sustainable in the NFL. These guys are professionals and learn quickly. The NFL is orders of magnitude more brutal than college, and Kliff put JD in harm’s way far too often. It worked last year because JD executed it so well, and it caught people off guard. But the league has caught up, and the team will need a more conventional style.

JD will have to learn how to play under center—period. He’ll need to learn how to protect his body, as harsh as that may be. We need massive work on pretty much all fronts but the QB position. Dan Quinn needs to nail it with these coordinator picks.

  8. I wasn’t a huge fan of Kliff’s scheme but he was pretty successful putting points on the board. I think we definitely have a chance to upgrade from him but we have to be careful because there also definitely the chance we end up with a downgrade. I mean look at who we’ve had before, Bienemy, Turner…

  9. Kliff was getting paid $10m a year, $7.5m from the Cards, the rest from us.

Dan Quinn is getting $4.5m a year.

I don’t know the exact details, but since Kliff’s Arizona money runs out next year, we would need pull the bandaid off eventually, and so I can understand doing it now.

What Kliff did here was great. Offense was not the problem, even with injuries. The problem was defense. It was Whitt. It was DQ’s loyalty to his friends. Can’t have that in this game. Have to be able to fire anyone without your conscience eating at you.

  10. Didn’t Mariota play like two games in 2024 and put up similar stats to Jayden and won both games.

  11. JD5 isn’t good, he’s a system QB. Marcus Mariota played almost just as well. Anyone can sit there and do what JD5 does. We should’ve got Drake Maye. This whole sub was in favor of him anyways. JD5 is just another Justin Fields

  12. We need to be fair to our coaching staff. This year, we had a mediocre QB start for us most of the season, major wide receiver injuries, a lost rb… Injuries were a big factor.

  13. I think Kliff was definitely a contributing factor to our success last year. We dropped a 40 burger with Mariota, and there were a lot of times where we adjusted at the half and saw results. There were also games where we had very different plans depending on injury or opponent. He earned the praise he got for 2024, and I wish him the best.

It’s perfectly possible that the separation will be great for both parties.

  14. Crazy because the offense wasn’t the problem, even with a group of 3rd string players. We were lucky to even get him. I’d rather him be the head coach over vanilla DQ and his “friends” who know zilch about defense.

  15. Kliff didn’t do enough in terms of player development. His calls got too cute at the wrong time. Calling designed runs for JD should never happen again if it can be avoided. He used Bill on so many inside runs, I can’t speak to his route tree but from what I’m told it was vanilla and simple.

  16. I hope they grab a Shanny disciple – like what DQ had in Atlanta and what Adam had in San Fran. They both want an offense that is tough, run driven but with devastating boot/play action. This is not what Kliff does and it made me question his hire initially. After last year I thought that I was dead wrong for having any doubts, with the amazing success. I don’t pin all of the issues on Kliff by any means but even early this year when the team was healthy the offense seemed to have lost some of the magic and never really found its stride – of course driven by injuries.

I think this is a matter of philosophy mismatch that I think both men thought they could work out but in the end when things got rough it was an easy cut for DQ.

  17. Hopefully I won’t have to clench my butthole 5 or 6 times a game on the QB draw play calls.

  18. It’s plain. Last year was lightning in a bottle, and this year averaged the data. Nothing and no one are untouchable. Except Tress and Terry.

  19. Completely new season what are the chances that injuries play as big a role…..but there are a lot needs and draft picks that have to produce for the rebuild to be sustainable success

  20. I knew this was coming because Dan Quin said multiple times to the media he wanted to run more and keep Jayden under center. The worst part of the whole situation is Kliff was being stubborn and kept calling Reed options that resulted in Jayden keeping it and dislocating his elbow. The only thing we should be upset at is a whole season was wasted and we didn’t get to develop our franchise QB. I’m sure Brian Johnson will take over for Kliff and run a better balanced offensive system.

  21. I gotta be honest, the way it said “mutually parting ways” was not saying it was a decision to get rid of him based on negatives alone. I think it was much for Kliff as it was to shift to a more run oriented offense. The man turned down HC interviews last year to stay with the team. They’ll probably try and get somebody working under a Shanahan/McVay scheme… Kubiak and LaFluer may step out from under the current HC’s for a shot to call plays which would lead to a HC position for them faster?

  22. IMO: kliff was ready to move on, fired or parted ways, he wasn’t staying here. AP played with his WR1 all camp. His WR2 we all knew wasn’t going to play. WR3/4 were drafted based on RASP scores. RB was sold to us as a diamond in the rough 7th rounder….kliff may not be the best, but he deserved a better hand dealt than what we all got in 2025. I do think a replacement will help JD and the offense moving forward, but it now seems that there was a good bond we might not replace.

Overall picture, DQ Is on a lame duck year. We will get 2 coordinators who are ok with 1 yr prove it style gigs. And we make Momma Daniel’s so angry she starts talking departure.

  23. The entire scheme felt different this year.

They were boring af on offense and when jd5 was healthy they seemed afraid. Last year they would have gone for it in 4th in the first game. This time they just shrugged and punted.

The defense was a complete shit show and it really highlighted the issues on offense. If this team was going to win we would have needed 35 points a game at least.
