No thank you.
Nooooooooooo!
Well obviously Trae young would want to come here
Cool, we’ll pick up on the vet minimum after being waived from Washington.
Can we sign Leonard Miller to a $49 million contract and trade for him straight up?
Us: boy, it would be great if fringe stars wanted to come play in Minnesota
Also us: no, not like that!
I dont see a good trade making it happen.
I’d want to come here too, seems like a good time. Sadly the way the world works right now in the NBA nobody wants that
Is he willing to take a pay cut?
His contract is brazy
so now we know all the minnesota smoke is from trae’s agent. got it
I got to take a minute and enjoy this moment. Hasn’t been since Kyrie wanting out of Cleveland and putting us down to get traded to (so he could play with Butler), I have seen an All Star player want to come to my Minnesota Timberwolves.
I think this and the Kyrie time might be the only two times I have ever seen it.
Hope we pass on you Mr. Young, but thanks for the confidence boost
Trae is making twice what we should be willing to pay him.
For a 2nd round pick and they magically eat half his contract then deal!
Stealing this info from what I’ve heard on Zach Lowe’s pods. Trae Young would be a disaster for three reasons:
1. Horrendous defender, so bad that everyone else would need to step up big time.
2. Needs the ball in his hands, otherwise he’s just going to stand in the corner. Doesn’t run motions or set screens.
3. Making $46 million this year and has a player option for $49 million next year.
He is the definition of an empty stats player. The hawks apparently look worse with him on the floor compared to when he was out.
He’ll make a great Net
If he’d agree to an extension similar to Rudy money id be down in a heartbeat. I know people think getting a backup big who can play defense and is more important but it turns out we drafted one of those in the first round this year 🙂
Just. Say. No.
Even if we wanted him, he’s a tough salary to match. Obviously Randle would be included, but then it gets tricky. A lot of people are proposing Mike, but I just don’t see us trading him – he’s a critical presence for this team and has done everything we’ve asked of him. And then if we ship out Randle, we essentially have 2 playable bigs.
TL;DR – it doesn’t make sense, even if you like Trae’s fit on this team.
Can someone interest Trae in playing any defense at all? No? Well then…
Please, no
The way some of yall think on this sub is beyond me, there’s a handful of yall that want Rob to start or play big minutes but there’s current Trae is way better than the best version of Rob will ever be and yall don’t want him…
If he wants to play here he can opt out of his contract next year and sign as a free agent. Having to match $43 million in salary to get him will decimate this team. There’s no way we’re a better team after that.
I would not give up what would be needed for this. I would do it only for Fox. Lamelo is intriguing, Morant is scary, Trae too expressive and bad fit.
I think he would be a bad fit. We don’t need another ball dominant guard, especially one who can’t defend
Does Trae make the team better if the trade-off was Randle + Conley and/or Donte? It seems like since we have a natural Randle replacement in Reid, that would make our team better. But I also understand Trae is generally not a winning player and only tries on one side of the ball.
God no. Trae Young is a good ass player but he’d be a terrible fit in MN. He needs to go to a young team that is building a core so he can be the center of that. Brooklyn or Washington are a good choice. Or even Portland maybe. He should not go to a team that already has a core like the wolves.
Seen another source say that neither us or Brooklyn have shown interest in Young.
Fuck. No.
I know Randle is frustrating to watch sometimes, but he plays a very solid defense (especially iso) when locked in, and he will be in playoffs. Wolves finally figured out their shot distribution and roles, and TO rate is steadily going down – I don’t think the starting lineup needs one more ball dominant player. Wolves just need one more consistent player off the bench who can play defense, make some shots, and dont turn it over. Trading Dillingham for Trae Jones could be better for this roster than Trae Young for Randle.

If Trae Young is a fit as a star on some team in the league, it’s not on the Wolves. He’d only exacerbate the team’s problems and give them something additional to worry about (hiding an undersized point guard defensively, when we’re already worrying about the non-Rudy minutes when it comes to the bigs).
Furthermore, he makes like $10-15m more than Randle, so you’d really have to shake the roster up with a blockbluster trade. If we traded KAT to break up his salary and turn 1 player into 2, I don’t understand why you’d reverse that now and revert to the salary model we were trying to get away from for Trae.
$46 mil this year $49 mil next year no thanks. Also I don’t think a lot of Wolves fans understand he’s for a guy who gets actual minutes a bottom 5 defender of all time
I would be happy to have him but there’s no trade that makes sense for us
I love Trae Young and I wanted him on this team for years, but unfortunately there is just no way to trade for him that would leave this team better.
I think the fit is fine but I also believe Randle – much like in the Garland talks – is just the better player. I know he has motor issues but he’s generally healthy and makes significantly less than either of those two while, again, just being better.
I’d also consider how far Trae is from his age 23 form. We’re now four years removed from him being an elite player. Considering how much he makes, the looming free agency, what it would cost to obtain him I just don’t
believe there’s a deal I’d be happy with.
Unless they add Okongwo, in which case I’ll drive JR to the airport.
His salary is just way too high. It sucks because outside of defense the guy is super talented and would be great as a Timberwolf, if he got $20M less per year
Maybe if Connelly fumbled the Julius contract. But at 30m it’s not worth adding more assets when we need bigs.
Sorry Trae, prove you want to be here. Opt out and sign a MLE
My camp has also suggested Sidney Sweeney as an attractive potential girlfriend too
We would instantly be a finals candidate. The Wolves can’t keep losing the point guard skills competition called the first quarter and crunch time.

[Amick] Anthony Davis is believed to be open to a trade with the Hawks or Raptors, two teams who have shown legitimate interest recently
Just gonna leave this here to put it into the universe: https://imgur.com/a/yQr6Ipu
