  1. High upside, controllable pitching is EXPENSIVE. Sad we won’t see ONKC in cubbie blue, but excited to see Cabrera in the Cub’s pitching lab.

  2. Damn caissie?! I get it controllable SP is pricey but I really like Owen. Miami got a good one till he’s done arbitration.

  3. I am so excited about this return man. It feels great having a GM who won’t settle for peanuts

  4. I’m fine with that. Caissie is a good prospect, but he’s not like some Top 20 guy with superstar potential. He projects to be an offense-first corner outfielder (with maybe average defense) that strikes out a lot. Are those guys super hard to find? Not really.

  5. Excited to add Cassie to the young core. Cabrera is a roller coaster despite wanting to go into the season with sandy him and eury but we need more power in the lineup. Cabrera is an injury waiting to happen and has only thrown over 120 IPs once in his career.

  6. Edward has so much potential man. Hopefully he figures it out in Chicago, especially with his control. A good guy too that was always shadowing/next to Sandy.

    Like this trade for both

  7. Can never count on pitcher health but I kinda like it. Did not buy Caissie at all and preferred giving MoBaller time once he showed he can make consistent contact at the big league level.

If this was a normal big market team, I would now be excited to anticipate shifting to get a big bat seeing as you lost Tucker and got your starter without using FA $. But since it is us I am mentally preparing for ya know, not doing that. But hey, a move with potential at least.

  8. Cabrera is legit. He has top5 Cy Young stuff. Dodgers proved you need aces in your starting lineup if you want to contest for championships

  9. That’s a good deal if Caissie is the only big piece. I’d be content to give up Long as well. Caissie + Wiggins would have hurt though.

Since people seem confused what the Cubs are gonna do in RF, most likely Seiya will play there and Alcantara will be a utility outfielder who will step into RF once Seiya is gone at the end of the year.

  10. This deal template is what the Royals were looking to do this offseason—deal a starter for outfield help, someone on the cusp or established. I guess the ask must have been Ragans, which I’m not sad to see it didn’t materialize.

  11. meh tbh I don’t think Owen is going to be all that good. Looks like one of those really good AAA guys who doesn’t quite figure it out in MLB. I was optimistic about him but I think he’s taken a bit too long to arrive. Hope I’m wrong.

  12. If this pans out, I wish ONKC nothing but the best. Would have loved to see him grow long-term in Chicago but we’re still logjammed in the OF even with no Tucker in the picture, so someone needed to be flipped.

Now go give Nico a lifetime extension please

  13. At least he’s not in the NL East but the Mets handled him ok. I would not have given up Benge or McLean in a million years for this scenario

  14. I’m OK with this. Cabrera finally put it together but I still will never trust him. Selling high on him is the right move. I wonder if the Marlins experiment with one of their outfielders at first base. The only plus defender out there is Marsee.
