[Gelb] The [Phillies’] interest in Bichette is legitimate, and if it results in a deal, it would likely require the team to move on from roster mainstays J.T. Realmuto and Alec Bohm

  1. Bohm is whatever. Bichette is better and younger.

But losing JT would hurt simply because we have no other major league level catchers in the organization.

  2. Phillies fans everywhere salivating at a chance to purge Alec Bohm from the team

  3. From a RPG perspective….

Davie. Please stop adding points to Strength. It’s almost maxed out. We need points in intelligence, dexterity and wisdom.

  4. All this noise makes me think bichette is a few days away from accepting a 2 year deal to come home cause he’s not getting the mega contract he wants

  5. Why would Bichette require moving on from Realmuto? He cannot require that much of a financial commitment…

  6. Reading the actual article, this sounds like a bit of posturing with the Phillies toward Realmuto, basically signaling to him that they’re really going to think about starting to look elsewhere soon.

  7. I think JT eventually will be back cause I can’t imagine there’s any market but Bohm can probably go

  8. “Require” lol. Philly can spend whatever it wants. And Bohm a Philly “mainstay” lolol

  9. Alec Bohm YOU are a Seattle Mariner (hedging their young infielders and needing a backup corner bat)

  10. yeah…this is happening. annoying. wish the yankees would grab him so that the jays get tucker and bichette doesn’t come light up my braves.

  11. Phillies thinking Alec Bohm had Barry Bonds trade value last off-season wasn’t smart.

  12. I really hope the team doesn’t ditch JT for someone like Bichette. Bichette may be more valuable than JT in a vacuum right now, but the drop in value at catcher will be greater than the increate in value at 2b or 3b, wherever Bo would play in the field.

Unfortunately, JT’s best days are behind him, but with the current market, the Phils need to give in to the overpay. Their rotation is top of the league, and that is in no small part the work of JT. This move will make but pitcher and catcher values worse, for a marginal increase in IF value.

I’d hope they sign JT and no one else, rather than sign Bichette and have to move Bohm with no leverage, and Marchan taking on the starting role.

  13. The dance with Reamuto and the Phillies confuses me. Him staying in Philly was one of the easiest predictions of the off season to me, yet they still want to do the song and dance. Just get the deal done and move on. Moving on from Bohm and Casty somehow to free up the cash for Bichette, I understand. Even if it’s just to “work” JT, no one is buying it makes sense to pay Bo instead of JT
