Sabrina Ionescu will not participate in Unrivaled’s second season due to an injury suffered during her 2025 campaign with the WNBA’s New York Liberty, per an announcement on Thursday.

“While I’m disappointed I couldn’t play this season, I’ll be rooting for the Phantom,” Ionescu, who played with Phantom BC in 2025, said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to working with Unrivaled through content and broadcast opportunities and continuing to support the league’s success.”

Those opportunities include “select on-air appearances with TNT Sports,” the league’s broadcast partner.

The statement did not reveal the injury preventing Ionescu from playing this year.

Ionescu, who starred at Oregon before joining the Liberty in 2020, has played six WNBA seasons. She averaged 18.2 points, 5.7 assists and 4.9 rebounds last season.

This year’s Unrivaled season began on Monday. The second campaign features two new teams, Hive and Breeze, for a total of eight. The season runs until March 4, when the championship is set to take place.
