  1. You know I just forgot he was on the team lol it’s interesting knowing he was the one who beat OSU with Terry in 2018 in that huge upset lmao. Hope he’s a great OC tho fs

  2. You guys said you want the next young mind, let’s see how it goes!! Hoping for the absolute best!!!

  3. Not upset, kind of like it honestly. Just really need him to hit or it sets us back again.

  4. Hopefully he’s great. But also hoping McDaniel signs somewhere as a head coach so I don’t have to wonder what if lmao

  5. Not angry at this but it’s a big risk considering we have no idea if he’s ready or not. I like it though tbh

  6. Is this a, ‘we have a history of letting talent out of the building, let’s not do it again’ hire?

  7. Wow that was fast! They didn’t do too many interviews at all.

Hopefully Blough will implement more balanced formations for Jayden

  8. I’m surprised Dan didn’t go with an established playcaller, knowing how vulnerable his own job is after firing both coordinators. That being said, who knows, maybe we have the next big thing!

  9. I like it. Hopefully he gives us more than two seasons, if he turns out to be a great OC.

DQ is taking a big risk on this, hoping that Blough returns the favor down the line.

  10. This is either really going to work out for us or be a complete fucking disaster. There’s typically no in between with this organization lol

  11. I know everyone wanted the flashy names (and in a couple years we may look back and say we should have) but he’s been the rising star. He was going to get a shot somewhere and learned under Ben Johnson and ~~Kyle Shanahan~~ KOC

  12. I like that there’s already going to be a rapport with him and our players.

I wonder how similar his offense will be to what we’ve already been running. Honestly I’m hoping for some change.

  13. Detroit wasn’t messing around to go after him. Either 2 teams are completely off the mark, or we are in for a nice ride. #RaiseHail

  14. Granted under different coaches, but this team has had a ton of success – arguably the most of any team – with hiring young OCs with playing experience that are meteoric risers.

Shanahan, McVay, LaFleur, KOC have all been standouts as HCs.

  15. Apparently he’s brilliant, a football savant is how I’ve heard him described. Hopefully Anthony Lynn stays on as running game coordinator.

  16. This is good! Familiarity with Jayden so it’s not a whole new thing in the critical 3rd year + he’s reportedly talented AF. This seems like a smart hire.

  17. Well, maybe this could be the fresh hire that people have been screaming for for years on here, DQ is taking a huge risk but with high reward. If it works out, he will look like a genius for taking the chance. If it doesn’t, he will be gone, and we will have a new coach next year.

  18. Googled him and didn’t realize he was our qb coach and also only 30 years old

Might be a genius ngl or we are inept who knows

  19. JP and keim both kinda hinted at this being the case. Apparently the dude is a stud and there was a reason they really needed to keep him in the building. Big gamble but could be an amazing move for us.

  20. He was gonna get poached this off-season. He’s well regarded around the league. A little early maybe for this promotion from the outside looking in, but a good decision to do this before we let another young promising coach walk out of the building and regret it later. Familiarity and relationship with Jayden is a positive too

  21. I know Detroit really wanted him and they have a great track record with picking coordinators

  22. Fun fact: as a QB, Blough started 5 games for the Lions in 2019 after Jeff Driskel got injured.

  23. Damn, I’m not mad at it but didn’t think it would happen. Really thought we were gonna roll with a proven play caller, really ballsy move by DQ.

  24. I’ve been saying I’m tired of retread coaches and coordinators since the Rivera days. I’m happy we took a swing on a unproven up and comer.

Still if it’s a swing and a miss I don’t think that excuses DQ/FO next year and I think they know that. I’m going to interpret that as them having confidence in their pick… but then again I’m sure they’ve had confidence in all their picks until they didn’t.

  25. I feel like the Lions made a strong push, so Quinn had to act quick. Bit dissapointing they didn’t interview more coaches, but he looks promising.

Hope they surround him with veteran coaches like Lynn.
