Pre-Ant & peak Glen Taylor were some dark times… Both of their careers and relationship with this franchise is kinda sad
Kevin Love could’ve been a fan favorite, but his exit was ugly. He cared more about himself, fans could feel it. I don’t think anybody faulted him for leaving with how they handled his contract situation and it being another Glen Taylor mess, but he really didn’t care all that much about his time here. Top 5 wolf all-time, and don’t harbor ill will, but he’ll never even be a top 10 favorite for me.
Rubio would’ve been a great player had he landed in a different situation. We were too dysfunctional for him

Man… it also sucks that Kevin was also going through this.. and that they couldn’t have bonded more while teammates. As many of us know when going through depression, anxiety, and for Rubio living in a completely foreign land, you can’t always reach out to those who need it. As you might be dealing with your own Demons on a nightly basis.
I always thought Rubio was such a dynamic player and always gave it his all. I hope they can link back up and have a lifelong friendship. Playing pro basketball at that high of level creates some sort of bond, but being empathetic to someone and speaking it aloud to the masses, is something of a different level.
I was a huge rubio fan.
I also have many friends who worked downtown in the hospitality industry who have receipts that say he wasn’t real great lol.
Rubio was radiant and talented and clearly tragically underappreciated. He played with so much heart, and joy!, and was easily the best part of some rather tough seasons.
I’m glad Kevin Love is apologizing here. If only he could’ve matured faster, they could have made such an awesome duo if they clicked in Ricky’s prime.
Imagine if this Wolves squad had prime Rubio
If rubio just ended up in this timeline of ANT and Rudy, doesnt matter if he cant shoot, we will a dynasty.
Ricky is the reason I started watching basketball and why I became a wolves fan, even though I am from Germany never had any connection to basketball at all.
I hope Ricky is doing good 🙂
I grew in MPLS and have rooted for the Wolves my whole life. I moved away from MN about 15 years ago and missed the day to day action during the Love/Rubio period. Are there articles about this period and what went wrong? Would anyone be willing to elaborate? Even from a great distance I could see Love’s lack of enthusiasm for the team but didn’t have much else to go on.
18 years? My God lol. I remember when we drafted Love, I was in college of the U of M and some basketball guys were in my class. I overheard them talking about how Love came to the lockeroom the year before to visit a friend or something before he was drafted. They talked about how weird and stand offish they felt Love was.
That feels like maybe 8-10 years ago but that was like 19. Lawd!!!!
The info I heard around MPLS with the finger push-ups made me disappointed. He punched a wall and hit a stud.
Take that with a grain of salt and Im glad hes an advocate for mental health now and doing well but he dogged us then. Remember KG never wanted to leave…
I hate thibs for trading Rubio for Teague. We closed the previous season strong with him on the squad and he traded ricky for the most nonchalant player ever.
To this day, watching Rubio’s debut against the Thunder is one of my favorite games I’ve been too.
That may be incredibly depressing to most, but man the feeling of promise during and after that game was incredible.
Will Rubio and KLove be welcomed back into the franchise after KG?

As big of a fuck up as it was to not draft Curry, I 100000% believe that we never would have treated his ankles and he wouldn’t have had the career he did.
We were inept and incompetent for so long. Man, dark days.
