Make or Break for Dan Quinn

  1. However the next season turns out, you gotta respect DQ for putting it all on the line for an unproven talent.

  2. Duhhh! I mean AP pretty much said as much during their presser. “DQ picks the coaches, Im just here for emotional support in that regard” he put him on the clock without saying and laid the accountability squarely at his feet 🤷🏾‍♂️

  3. I mean like- they lost 4 straight games by 21+ points, which is hard to do for even the worst NFL teams.

I’m kind of shocked he’s getting another chance this year.

  4. The question now is what is the minimal performance output (and in which categories) required for him to have another year? Would 8-9 and a defensive turnaround be sufficient? Or is it playoffs or bust?

  5. I hope this isn’t going around the front office. If you don’t think he is the guy then fire him. If not, stick it out until you don’t think he is the guy. This one more chance thing just creates a situation where coaches and/or GM’s just operate to keep their job, not do what’s in the best interest of the team, players, or organization. Also has the potential to screw up Jayden if he has to change OC’s and offenses three times in three years.

  6. What happens if our offense is really good Jayden looks like an MVP and Blough looks like an offensive prodigy as the offensive coordinator however, our defense is still horrible and we go 8-9.

  7. When you have a great quarterback, you’re never far away in the NFL. Get an edge in the draft, hopefully David Bailey. Use our substantial cap space to get a wide receiver, a linebacker, a safety and a tight end in free agency. Take advantage of an easier schedule and hope for some injury luck. DQ will be safe for a year if he gets back to the playoffs.

  8. His main mistake this season was taking over defensive play calling from Whitt like 5 weeks too late. If he had done that earlier and Jayden hadn’t fumbled away the Bears game, the entire season could have gone differently.

The main issue isn’t coaching though: our roster simply isn’t good enough to withstand the injuries we had. With McLaurin out, we have maybe the worst WR room in the league. Our LBs are all 38 years old. Lattimore sucks. OL is a work in progress. We have average RBs, and when Ekeler went down, no good receiving backs.

I don’t think you can blame DQ at this point.

  9. Meanwhile, the fans get to endure more possible mediocrity as we continue the DQ experiment.

I hope it works out. I really do.

    But:

    20%

That is the percentage of good seasons we have had since 1991.

We are consistent if nothing else.

    HTTR

  10. Not surprised, you get a couple go arounds at HC and if those aren’t great you spend the rest of your career as a coordinator.

  11. Either this works out and we have the next boy genius or this blows up spectacularly and DQ gets canned and we go with an offensive minded HC finally. I say it’s a win-win situation as a fan,

  12. lol source around the league? Who is this guy. Think it’s pretty obvious about the dq situation

  13. Parcells, elder Shannahan, Marty S., Pete Carroll and Vermiel are the only coaches I can think of who were head coaches of three teams. So, not a real stretch to think Quinn would not get another chance.

  14. I don’t think he gets enough credit for holding this team together throughout a disastrous season. As bad as it got, the players never stopped playing for him or each other and as bad as they were at times, they never lost belief that they could still beat any opponent. It would have been easy to lose the locker room with what this team experienced this year.

Now, of course, that faith may waiver if things don’t improve but for now, I think he deserves a bit of credit and a little slack to see where they go from here.

  15. Makes sense for the heat to be on Quinn. A big selling point upon his hire was that he really reviewed and assessed what he could’ve done better during his Atlanta time and should have done better in retrospect.

However, this is also a huge gamble considering the OC hire will have a huge influence on Jayden’s development and thus overall team success — within the final years of his rookie deal giving cap flexibility.
