I just saw this on the NYT upcoming books list for 2026. I didn’t expect to see a book about the Mets featured much less one that puts the team and its struggles within a wider social context. This kind of stuff is right up my alley so I figured it would be for others here. Does anyone have other recommendations for media that highlights the Mets, baseball, or sports in general within society at large?

Looks like something I would read. Thanks!
This looks cool af! I’ll have to check it out when it releases
Looks interesting thanks for sharing
Would highly recommend “The New York Game,” published last year about baseball in NYC in the first half of the 20th century.
It’s not the Mets but last year I read “Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bronx Is Burning: 1977, Baseball, Politics, and the Battle for the Soul of a City” and really enjoyed it.
I also read “The New York Game: Baseball and the Rise of a New City” which I enjoyed but found a little dense at times.
I know the author and have been making my way through a galley copy – it’s great so far!
