Welp. If saying something like this about someone who you want to trade isn’t the nail in the coffin for Fitz then I don’t know what is. I’m not a “Fire Fitz” fan but he’s making it hard not to.

People making a big deal out of this but there’s not a lot here. He’s not admitting to anything besides skating the best possible lineup. Do I think they’re coercing Dougie into waiving his NMC? Absolutely. But he’s not going on record about the trade rumors, just the projected lineup. This is pretty standard stuff, and we’ve heard similar in the past about other players (Nemec, Holtz, etc).
Fitz is a terrible GM. Kovacevic should’ve been moved instead of re-signed last year. Now we have Kovy AND Dougie with NTCs and only got out of an even worse situation of Kovy filing a grievance because Noesen is having surgery going on LTIR to free cap. Ultimately it’s ownership that is the worst Devil, because they allowed Fitz to stick around so long.
I’ll take the downvotes if that the result but I’m failing to see the glaring problem with this quote. With full health this is the best Defensive lineup to roll out, thus dougie is odd man out. After the Nemo hatty, everyone had dougie picked as odd man out and expected a trade. It seems like that has proven more difficult than expected.
To call it down the middle, the contract he received from Fitz is part of the reason, it seems like the other part is his play and sticking by his list. If none of those teams want him, it’s still fitz’s job to provide the best options possible for Keefe. This isn’t a defense of him, he clearly shares some of the blame.

I try to be measured around the Devils, because I know I get over-emotional sometimes and after a day or so I remember it’s just a game and I’m not on the team. But you know what?
**Fuck Fitz**. Fuck this guy right out of New Jersey. Remember the lone positive season we had? Remember how fucking good the vibes were? He has absolutely hacked that atmosphere to pieces. Not only are we slow and shit, we’re also a team that throws loyal guys under the bus now.
I was so excited about the possibilities with Fitz for a few seasons. It felt like he had the chance to make this team something special. Now here we are.

It definitely reads to me that Fitz is taking a subtle dig at Dougie over a situation that is of his own creation. Should have just continued to stay silent.
Not to say that Hamilton was playing great, because he was not, but it is really weird to take a Dman who quarterbacks PP1 or PP2 for you all season…and healthy scratch him BC a Dman who is a complete non-entity offensively returns from injury.
