  1. I didn’t think it was possible to love José more than I already did but he keeps finding ways to make me. I hope so badly that we win a World Series with him on the roster.

  2. love jose, but another thing to point out, and one that a lot of players should think on, is that even $10 million should be enough to live on the rest of their lives, comfortably if they plan. josie still made a shit ton of money, more than anyone needs

if you’re happy, why risk that happiness for more of something you don’t really need?

  3. He’s the kind of player I want my kids to aspire to become. He’s just such a genuinely authentic and kind person.

  4. I’m just obsessed with him. Dolan really doesn’t deserve him but we do. He loves us as much as we love him and he’s going to have a well earned statue at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario one day.

  5. As a Tigers fan, I hate this guy as he is a stone cold killer out there. As a baseball fan, I cannot love him any more. This guy is a baseball player through and through. You guys have a stud in Ramirez, I love watching him play.

  6. For those too lazy to click over, it’s a clip from Jose on the Hector Gomez podcast, in Spanish. The full translation reads:

That was ultimately my decision, to take the extension. We went through a year and a half of negotiations, and when I finally signed, I got a significant salary bump. I knew it wasn’t fully reflective of my market value, and plenty of people made sure to point that out. But I’m a veteran, I understand how the game works. Cleveland is a small market team, and they simply can’t pay me what I could command on the open market. So I told them, Let’s find a fair agreement that works for both sides. I spoke directly with the GM. There were real trade discussions and offers from other teams willing to extend me at my full asking price, but my heart was set on staying in Cleveland. First and foremost, my children were born here. My wife feels comfortable in Cleveland and so do I. I owe this city a lot. Since the day I arrived, I’ve never once been booed by these fans. I’ve seen how crowds in other stadiums treat players when results don’t come quickly, and that’s never happened here.

  7. As a 40 year old diehard Cleveland sports fan – it’s wild that arguably the greatest basketball player who ever lived was born and raised in Ohio, drafted by the Cavs, won a championship with the Cavs – the only Cleveland championship of my (and many who are decades older than me’s) lifetime…and yet my affection for that person doesn’t even come close to the love I have for Jose Ramirez. God bless this man.

  8. How can you not love this guy? A great example of everything that can be right with sports. I really hope the organization can find a way to get a World Series ring with him but I have a feeling Jose would never complain, even if they can’t. Just an excellent human being.

  9. Jose is once in a lifetime. He gave us something that may be rarer than championships. A true connection of mutual love and respect between player and fanbase. There may not be another team that has what we have with him. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

  10. Jose is the most significant professional athlete for any Cleveland sport franchise.

And I wouldn’t begrudge him for one second if he ended up on a another team to chase a WS (even thought I think the Guards can win one)

Miles gets the same pass too.

  11. There’s nothing us Clevelanders love more than someone who comes here and loves Cleveland too. What a mensch this guy is!!!
