You can shit on Michel, I grant you he definitely had it coming when he got fired in 2008-09, but the dude did get us to the Finals. It doesn’t take just talent alone but motivation and coaching as well. I think he’s a knob most of the time (goddamn I hate that French-Canadian sarcasm) but he did do his job when it came time. It just wasn’t enough to the team at the time.
I still have a soft spot for him. I also know people who went to school with his kids and they said he was the nicest guy. He got this team to where they needed to be at that time. 🫡
He should have a Cup ring, he should have a banner raised that says “SOFF.” He should be a guest at today’s game.
This is the turning point of the entire post-Jagr franchise.
This press conference has provided so much joy to me over the years. I think my favorite quote is “I guess we’re going to have to come back with the old recipe.”
