And yet people will still defend him saying the boos are unjustified.

He’s never been good, he was fine the first year he got thrust in but had no expectations that year or really much pressure since everyone knew they were junk. In terms of numbers though he’s consistently proved he’s not an nhl goalie. I ve never seen a goalie in all my life get beat cleanly so often by routine shots from distance. He should never play again for them
Goalie is such a weird position though. Not defending him, as he has a track record of being not good over a couple years, but so much of the position’s success is based off the team in front of you. Breakways and 2 on 1s are heavily slanted against the goalies success…a bad PK…defense leaving back door chances open…all of those will go against a goalies stats but not many can be blamed on him.
By all metrics, coming into this season, Vladar should not have been much better and yet here we are.
How many goalies have come into town, been awful and then found success elsewhere? Stolarz, Talbot, Lyon all come to mind in the last 10-ish years who found success as dependable backups or starters after “bad performances” here. It wouldn’t shock me to see Errsson get a job as a backup somewhere and post much better numbers…although I suspect he will just go back to Sweden
Wasn’t he only saved by this last year by the virtues of Kolosov and Fedotov?

I used to be a big defender of Ersson but I think he’s kinda lost it at this point, thank god Vladar has been good.
The Ersson experiment should be considered to be over.
We could get a fattest kid from father judge who stood in the middle of the net and he’d stop more pucks than ersson. Id trade him for a pair of wired headphones.
Ersson simply is not an NHL goaltender anymore.
Goalie coach issue???
Why are we not allowed to boo a goalie who is losing game after game? Erson’s feelings shouldn’t be taken more seriously than fan expectations. He gets paid millions of dollars to stop pucks, and win games, and improve a franchise that has been stuck in mediocraty. Maybe those fans will stop going to game and Erson can let in 7-8 goals per game and it won’t matter cause nobody will be watching. Trade him, send him to AHL, but he cannot lose us any more games for godsake!
Getting rid of Ersson would be a mistake. Goalies take time to develop and peak much later than others. Ersson is exactly lolike Vladar. Look at his career. He sucked and was back up until last season. Hes 28 yrs old. Id much rather send him to the minors to work on his game.
Player development is not linear and its incredibly stupid to make decisions with a player based on how he plays now and not considering the future.
