Can I get a dollar
So it’s basically the Alonso deal
Fangraphs median crowd source wins again!
$31MM/year…pfftt, shoe money
wild how contracts get so creative now, gotta wonder what teams’ll do next
Can someone break this down?
If 70 of the 175 million dollar deal is deferred, wouldn’t Bregman’s annual be around 21 million?
Salt in the wound, as the Red Sox whiff again. Lol…. lmao even
Why are players willing to defer money? It makes zero sense financially.
It’s surprising that the Red Sox “aggressive offer” was less than this.
Completely ban, and void all deferred contracts
Contract is signed, total value is revealed, Redditors say it’s an overpay, some other reporter reveals that it includes deferrals that turn the number that Redditors balked at to a more reasonable amount. Many such cases.
I thought the original AAV was an overpay. This valuation makes more sense now.
The Cubs are ruining baseball! This is so unfair.
Woke up even angrier today
Sounds salty
Ahahahaha
I am usually pretty rational but it’s where so much of this stings. I just have no faith in them do the best for this team. We have changed CBOs so much at this point. The guy that I would want to replace Breslow went to the Nats. Even going back to Theo, they haven’t signed a free agent longer that 5 years that they finished out or massively regretted their decision. This is a continual pattern like Jon Lester over again or letting Beltre walk after one year. Now there is no Devers because Craig can’t communicate.
This is not at the Cubs or Bregman taking the bag. It’s not the 11/280 of Bogaerts that was dumb from the start. This just crazy enough but doable. After winning 4 World Series, you would think a front office and ownership would know how to go the extra mile.
This deferred shit feels like it’s not right but I’m not smart enough to articulate why. Building rosters with “IOU in 15 years” feels like asking for trouble.
5/155 makes more sense.
Can somebody explain to me why they had money for him but the entire time they had Tucker the narrative was about them not being able to pay him?

So where does this put everyone else?
Bichette maybe 7 years / $200mm / ~$28.5mm AV?
Tucker maybe 8 years / $300mm / ~$37.5mm AV?
