[McGran] The Maple Leafs are firing on all cylinders. Now the tough part begins

  1. This team simply hasn’t been good enough on the road this year. It’s the one glaring thing despite their recent success. If they can somehow sort their road record out before the olympic break then you can feel really good about their chances of making the playoffs. Still, tough opponents. Even WPG could be tough if they start stringing together wins by Saturday.

Some good things are they’ll get Vegas on the second game of a back-to-back, and Utah hasn’t been sparkling at home this year.

  2. My theory here is that it’s less about being on the road, and more about when other important things coincidently happened.

  3. I doubt we’re making the playoffs this year. The team just isn’t consistent enough and the only reason we’re even remotely close is from OT points, which we have a lot of… which are effectively losses.

  4. These next 5 games are a big test. This team is really coming together like I hoped they would prior to the start of the year.

The role players are playing well. Lines are starting to get set for the most part and the stars are playing like stars. Impressive what this team has done with all the injury adversity

  5. This article, and reading up on how the team is performing generally rn makes me so freaking happy. The way the guys look on the ice, on the bench, in the locker room etc tells me that they aren’t just getting points, they’re having fun while doing it, which is so, so different to how it was up to the Christmas break.

Obviously, there are still kinks to work through (Rielly, Domi, and Hildeby had some tough moments in OT that lost us a couple), but for the most part they are playing a full 60 minute game every night now, and the results are showing. The division is insane this year, so keeping it up for as long as possible is essential.

  6. The Avs will definitely be a big test! They are firing on all cylinders. Don’t the Avs have under 10 losses? If the Leafs can win at least 4 out of the 5 games they have coming up, that will be huge!
