The Anaheim Ducks lost 5–3 to the Buffalo Sabres, with all three Ducks goals coming in the final five minutes. Olen Zellweger scored on a nice finish, and while Leo Carlsson needed some luck to snap his 12-game goal drought, he looked much better overall and recorded a very elite assist on the third goal. The Ducks pushed late and the effort wasn’t terrible, but the goals against came from the same recurring problems: missed assignments, open slots, and costly turnovers. Lukas Dostal looked improved, but still allowed four goals and faced constant odd-man rushes, chances in tight, and even a penalty shot. The frustration continues as Pat Verbeek’s roster sits in the middle of one of the worst losing streaks in franchise history, with little accountability or response. We really need to make some significant moves before the Olympic break. If we wait till the trade deadline, by then we'll be a high lottery pick, and that won't be good for the confidence, or I should say development, of our young future. Kim keep telling it as it is. Because the media has abandoned us again, and all that is left are the ones that won't cross/talk bad about the ducks.

This isn’t ups and downs, this is a serious problem. We have quite arguably the worst defensive pairings in the NHL. The last defensemen we got with a top ten pick was Drysdale back in 2020 and he’s been very inconsistent. We need a cornerstone defensemen to build around. Like Jacob Slavin, Moritz Seider, Jake Sanderson, Rasmus Dahlin or Devin Toews. We need a guy who is a great shut down Defensemen, Anchor the team while putting up decent offensiv numbers. Because currently we are a glass cannon team. And it’s showing. These are my thoughts at least.

A trade needs to happen to get a veteran D man that can stay home and protect our zone. We have too many offensive minded D creating too many turn overs and odd man rushes.
