This post is part sharing this podcast episode and part wanting to hear about this communities engagement with Tribefest/Guardsfest over the years. What are some of your favorite memories of the event? Why does it matter to you?
And as Zack asked on the podcast, if you are one of the people who allegedly exist who wanted this event to be every three years……why? Sincerely, why?

this video just made me realize it’s scheduled to return next year……and we’re by all accounts heading for a lockout. very cool.
I miss GuardsFest
I have been attending games since the mid 90’s and have never once been to guards fest or wanted to attend. No knock on those who do attend or like it, but I like baseball the sport, I’m not a memorabilia fan or believe these guys are superheroes or anything (in fact most are the opposite….), I just like the game of baseball. So OP you could count me in that demographic. Zach loved to whine about this (I subscribe to the Pod) meanwhile he’s got like 100 bobble heads behind him, which great, glad he enjoys that, but what does that have to do with the sport? My dad and brothers went to the games with me, they were never interested either. Dads been going to games since old municipal in the 50’s. He’s never been to guards fest. Again I don’t say this to denigrate folks who are into it, but I just don’t get the constant complaining about it from guards podcasters (the locked on guards guys complain about it too).
I loved guards fest. My favorite memories are watching David Fry play with puppies and Myles Straw playing catch with the little kids. I really liked the panel discussions and it was cool to see the players interacting with fans, the other players, and their coaches. If I had kids I’m sure they would enjoy it even more. It’s cool to walk around and get the little freebies while being surrounded by people that love ball just as much as I do. I paid for a couple autograph sessions last time and while I’m no memorabilia freak, I will definitely treasure my signed items because I got to see my favorite players up close and personal and tell them I love them lol
I went a couple of years ago with my son and had a great time. He got some swag and got to meet some of the players. It was a great way to kill a crappy winter Saturday in Cleveland and start anticipating the upcoming season. The only thing that was sort of “cringe” were the memorabilia dealers with the binders full of pics and stuff to have signed, clearly with the intention of reselling.
