Per David Yapkowitz, Clutch Points: “While the Warriors would love nothing more than to trade for Michael Porter Jr., the one thing that could potentially hold up a deal is the Nets’ willingness to accept the Warriors’ offer. That offer would include Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Buddy Hield and a first-round pick. As mentioned by Siegel, the Warriors do not appear to be willing to include more than one first-round pick, potentially scrapping any hopes of a deal getting done.

If a Porter trade does not come to fruition, the Warriors have their sights set on other targets such as Ayo Dosunmu, Naji Marshall, Daniel Gafford, Haywood Highsmith and Robert Williams III. What is certain, however, is that Kuminga is essentially gone by the deadline. All that remains to be seen is what kind of a package he is part of, and to what team.”

  1. I don’t buy the validity of the report. But at the same time I absolutely can see the Warriors whiffing on MOJ for skimping on picks

  2. Steph has made Lacob how many billions of dollars and increased the value of this franchise exponentially, but when Steph needs him to cough up the assets for him to make one more run Lacob doesnt want to loosen the purse strings? What a tool.

  3. Brett Siegel has mentioned he was aggregated. Warriors never made an official offer it was just his speculation

  4. I think it’s a fair offer.

One more pick is fine if they can add something else back?

  5. Trading futures for making a run is sunk cost fallacy. Lakers had nothing after Kobe and that’s going to be our future. We whiffed on all our 1st round picks. Our only hope is bringing someone in via FA once Dray and Steph retire.

  6. There’s no way in hell the Nets would accept that. JK has very little value and is mostly salary matching, Moody is a solid role player, and there’s a reason why every fanbase he’s played for eventually gets annoyed with Hield. No way would the Nets trade an all star-level guy in his prime for a player who still hasn’t shown he’s actually good at basketball in his five seasons, a solid role player, Buddy Hield, and a single first.

If that’s really all it takes to get Porter, another team will swoop in and offer more than that. Teams don’t want JK; he’s not an asset. Moody and 1 1st for Porter is an offer ten teams could top easily.

  7. They are stupid if they don’t accept that offer. Seriously, our offer stinks of desperation. He’s worth Jk and moody, buddy to sweeten the deal but NO PICKS

  8. I don’t see why they wouldn’t give up two FRP. MPJ is only 27 and can (most likely) get 2 FRP back in the future for a win now option. Definitely at least 1 FRP (which is what they want to pay anyways).

  9. I’m inclined to think this doesn’t happen without another team. Part of the reason this mess exists is that the Nets were the only team in the off season who had the cap room to sign Kuminga to a contract. They weren’t interested.

  10. It has to be a 3 team trade. The Nets don’t want our players but Sacramento does. And the Nets might want someone like Monk or Sabonis.

  11. Trae just got traded for Corey Kispert and CJ McCollum. The Nets will be lucky to get one pick for MPJ.

If we give up a pick I hope it’s not in 2026, because this is a pretty talented draft and I don’t think MPJ is changing our fortunes all that much.

  12. I never understood this MPJ hype. He’s not worth all of that. Take out moody and that’ll probably be fine.

  13. This list of “other targets” does nothing to convince me that the dubs can be contenders this year nor next year.

After three seasons of this, it’s fair to say we likely won’t be any closer to a chip, with or without Steph, for the foreseeable future. There’s just no wiggle in the budget thanks to the second apron.

  14. I mean if the Dubs are forced to up the FRPs to say TWO, aren’t we now in JJJ territory? They can easily check to see if Memphis would accept that offer.

  15. 26 pick and the 28th, top 3 protected. MPJ could easily get 25 a night with all the wide open looks Steph and Jimmy generate. Let’s face it – our young guys are mid at best – and would probably be out of the league if they didn’t have the benefit of playing with 3 HOFs. Any self-respecting wing or guard should be able to make those shots at least 40-50% of the time.
