  1. When the Blasty jersey first came out I didn’t really like it but it has grown on me. A lot of its modern appeal is somewhat related to what I didn’t like about it initially, it is an incredibly bold design that goes against most modern styling trends that were starting to become established on its first release. It was going against the trends that were just starting to get popular, and now it is going against those same trends which I am incredibly tired of.

In regards to the Flames retro jerseys, I think the big “problem” is they were designed around standard definition television where the details were not as clear and the colour reproduction was not as accurate. If you wanted something to present as red on most people’s televisions, it had to be very bright and vivid. On top of this, I think a lot of older arenas were quite dark compared to today. A darker colour jersey, like the ones they played with not that long ago, might actually present as being a far darker colour than red. As a result, the retro jerseys come across as quite bright on modern broadcasts.

  2. I ended up watching that whole interview. Gaten is a legit hockey fan and has some fairly deep knowledge. I was impressed.

He even made a few references to the Flames throughout. A fun watch if you’re a fan of Stranger Things.

  3. Can honestly say that Dustin from stranger things rating NHL jerseys was not on my reddit bingo card today.

  4. One thing he touched on was our lighting in the saddledome , I think it’s great. Some of the best lighting in the nhl. I am going to miss that with the new arena cause I just know it won’t be as good.

  5. I kind of agree with the retros, I love them as a 3rd but to me the best flames jersey is the 04’s the black accents complement the jersey when done right.
