  1. Sharks fans should count their blessings Hamilton rejected this trade! He is a fraud and will be bought out when its all said and done! Nobody wants his contract or his soft play!

  2. I’m ok sending picks at this point, but not prospects. We have great cap leverage too 🧢 👍 our drafting has been godly, like MTL so as long as we don’t mortgage the future like the Leafs have (and how we used to up to 2019 before our massive rebuild)

  3. Hamilton had higher value over the summer. With that cap hit, I feel like the Devils aren’t expecting much return. With his actual salary starting to go down the Sharks are the kind of team that makes sense. I agree they could have him for the Avs’ 2nd or less. If not, offer them Eklund plus a pick for Nemec.

  4. NJ Devils fan here. Dougie definitely needs a change of scenery but part of the reason he canceled 2 separate trades was due to his wife and family being happily settled on the Eastcoast. The Quinn trade falling through has really created a toxic locker room environment that is impacting the teams play. Keefe also seems to have lost the locker room so things are currently looking bleak. I believe Dougie would fit right in with The Sharks. Just let him QB the PP1 and hopefully he gets some of his offensive mojo back. I also think it wouldn't cost too much to trade for him. Draft picks would likely get it done.

  5. Its a no from me, contracts a shocker and his level has seriously declined. It presents a risk in that if he doesnt produce he slows down the rebuild and the cap flexibility going forward. For me, its a young D man or its no one

  6. If we’re talking a 2nd and spare parts, I’m in favor. Wouldn’t give up anything of massive value. As you noted, this is a cap dump scenario for NJD, and the Sharks have cap space to offer, but they shouldn’t be offering much in the way of other assets.

  7. Thanks for the episode JD! I get what you are getting at and it does make sense but for me no thanks on Hamilton. I hope they are able to get an RD that is a defensive defenseman that plays middle pair minutes (preference plays as a 3 but a 4 is fine) which is between the ages of 23-28.

Can GMMG get a defenseman like that? I do not know. Will it mean moving out a minimum of two current defensemen? Yes and please let it be Leddy first, followed by I do not know.

Again, I like your thoughts. I just want my cake and eat it too. lol!

  8. This dude has a history in being drama for an organization. Let him rot.

If we're gonna trade away big prospects and spend big money I want Seider or Edvinson from Detroit

  9. Silly me, I thought the idea was to build around the young core with players in for the long run, a player in their low to mid twenties, not thirties like Hamilton. And Klingberg has not lived up to his low expectations, his peak was nearly four years ago offensively, and defensively he just plain sucks, and won't be worth diddly in trade. The Sharks looking into Owen Power maybe, but not a player over 30 AGAIN…

  10. Wouldn’t be a massive fan of getting DH, but I would think he makes us slightly better. I think id rather try and get Raddysh or Trouba and resign Ferraro in the summer.

    Also, machinehead? You from Clovis??

  11. The Sharks' biggest weapon is our cap space and willingness to take on 100% of the salary with nothing retained. If that is NJD's #1 need, I doubt the other suitors (DET, UTA, TOR) can match. That makes the price way cheaper.

You make NJD take one of our expiring D-men contracts like Leddy (who they waive) or or Vinny PLUS you force them to take 2 AHL contracts to give us contract space for Misa and Cherny. Win win win.

It also "threads the needle" in this year, showing Mack and the team we will at least try for the playoffs.

…..plus all of the virtues JD references:
    – Burns cap space
    – Vet leadership for 2 more years
    – RHD
    – Outside of maybe Orlov, becomes one of our best D when healthy

….and while JD mentioned this is a nice bridge contract…..unsure if he specifically noted that his contract expires when Misa, Cherny and Dickinson all need raises.

We can STILL target the TRUE top pairing young D we all crave…..this mkve does not atop us from doing that!

    Count me in.

  12. Grier should be all over this, would immediately slot in on our top pair RHD, and is only signed for 2 more seasons after this. Distressed asset that will come very very cheap that is a stopgap to fix our biggest glaring weakness, Grier go get this done, can even ship out 2 contracts to make space for Misa, send one of Desharnais/Klingberg/Leddy plus one other minor contract.

  13. Thanks for this realistic deal.

For the delusional Sharks fans, please stop with the "It has to be a young, right-handed, top 4" D-man. Unless you are comfortable dealing the likes of Misa and a 1st round pick, nobody is giving up that guy, whoever the hell it is.

  14. I wouldn't be adverse to adding him as a short term player.
He's old, we're not going to win a cup in the next couple of years.
So by the time we're contending, he is likely retired.

I don't mind being a little better earlier.
However he's not worth any kind of real asset.
I wouldn't trade any prospects or a 1st/2nd round pick for him.
Which means Jersey probably won't move him to us.

    Probably just Pass.
Unless they'll take equally old players or later picks.
Or maybe they need to move the $$.

  15. Honestly a 2nd round pick would be an overpay. I would think the return would be similar to what the Ducks traded for Jacob Trouba (depth player + 4th round pick). That was a similar situation, the Rangers needed to dump Trouba for cap reasons and Trouba was very reluctant to waive it.

  16. Learning more about the Devils situation, and our cap space.. there's a chance we just send veterans and maybe late round picks, if NJD don't retain any salary.. we're one of the few teams that can take him on. Freige mentioned Mammoth, VGK, Dallas, Blackhawks as other potential suitors. He said "Dougie doesn't fit the VGK profile", I wonder what he meant by this.. because Dougie is a TREE FOR SURE! My fear is that the Devils want a Ferraro-type guy on the LEFT SIDE. I really hope we keep him now, and sign him relative as your 2nd line LHD. Dickie will be 1st line LHD (in several years, as you mentioned) and Dougie would be the #1 guy. We could send Nick Leddy, or Skinner or Klinger as you said.. hopefully not Ferraro, Regenda or any of our top-tier prospects like Musty, Tuna, Lundy, Cags or Bystedt.

  17. With the current situation of the Rangers we should make a call on Braden Schneider. Young physical RHD. Plus they still owe us for taking Goodrow for free.
