Matt Ryan introductory press conference recap

  1. Another quote I’m pretty sure I heard
“If things get too ugly, I’m going to leap from the luxury suite and suit up, and tell these clowns to get fucking set, again.”

  2. Kind of don’t like the lack of focus on offensive minded coach, but I can defer to his experience.

  3. “I am not a coach”

Thanks Matt. Good to see you putting that BC degree to good use.

Man the Falcons are fucking cooked.

Well the team Blank, and take the Hawks with you.

  4. Kind of hilarious that people were catching hell for saying what Matt Ryan just said.

So I guess now the narrative will flip and suddenly everyone will think it’s stupid to focus only on the hot OC or offensive play caller.

  5. So I know that Ryan is key to the GM and HC hiring. He also said he’ll let the GM be the GM and the HC be the HC.

So after the hirings I have to ask Ryan…

Genuinley curious as to what his day to day activites will be once the hirings are done.

  6. What really struck me was how genuinely excited and humble he is. You can tell he really does just want to do what is best for the team and the franchise and doesn’t have any other agenda. It’s not just a job for him, and he wouldn’t be doing this job for any other franchise.

It was kind of interesting to hear the “well, what are you going to do once the HC and GM are in place” questions, because on the surface its like, yeah, what is he going to do? But leadership in truly high performing cultures does tend to look like that – get the right people in the role and let them do their job, you just make sure you’re creating the alignment and culture to make that happen and supporting where needed. There are often times when the most effective leadership is less about what you’re doing and more about the environment you’re creating. So excited to have Matt setting the tone and I truly believe that his tenacity and lack of ego will go a long way to setting a sustainable path for success. Coaches, players, etc., will come and go, but organizational culture is a huge part of building a consistently winning franchise.

Obviously I want us to nail these next HC and GM hires, but I think this is the foundational step that will set us up for having a team that’s worth following for the next decade plus.
