Chris Finch on Beringer: “People are going to have to sacrifice minutes, but if he plays like this, then we should be benefiting from everybody. We will step-by-step this. Since draft night, we’ve long believed in this kid. This is just the beginning.”

It’s so obvious that Finch is enamored with Joan. People just need to be patient, he’s gonna play and he’s gonna be good.
Pretty much the perfect answer
[Joan Beringer: “In the beginning of the game I was so nervous, but I just started to play and be myself on the court.”](https://bsky.app/profile/jonkrawczynski.bsky.social/post/3mceamvyc2c22)
I don’t think resting Rudy a bit more would be the worst thing to keep him in good condition for the long haul, provided Joan continues looking like a legit rim protector (often we gotta put Rudy back in to stop the bleeding). Isn’t that literally why they said they wanted to trade for a backup big?
Wonder if he might object to it because it could impact his DPOY chances though…
Dude is gonna get benched in a long time..
I like this.
Give rudy more rest for playoff run.
What do you guys think they see for him as a ceiling? Really good defensive anchor (maybe not dpoy), but with real offensive upside that gobert doesn’t have?
Tonight highlighted the difference between two young players and why some guys succeed in this league and some guys don’t. Dilly and Joan fit this example to a tee but you can apply it league-wide.
One guy came in and took advantage of his minutes. Played hard. Didn’t force the issue. Let the game come to him. Yeah, there were some mistakes but overall he seamlessly fit into the flow of the game and wasn’t a detriment to the team.
The other guy often forces the issue. Takes bad shots. Turns the ball over. Seems to be pressing way too much. And doesn’t seem to have a grasp on what his strengths actually are.
This comment isn’t meant to be a knock on Dillingham at all but generally you can find a place in the NBA by just making the right decisions and getting out of the way for your star players. Another good example of this is Clark. He isn’t some all world athlete. He’s not gonna blow you away with his offensive game. But he can play heavy minutes because he doesn’t do stupid shit.
