[King] The Boston Celtics would likely need to part with “significant draft capital” to acquire LA Clippers star center Ivica Zubac.

  1. I think the absolute most I’d be willing to do with picks is 2 1sts and a swap, and that feels like a bit of an overpay

  2. Please don’t do this. I think everybody would be okay giving up 26 for him, but I’m really not into giving up an unprotected 2032 pick and swaps along the way

  3. It may be a pipe dream, but I’d rather wait to see if JJJ became available either at the deadline or offseason and be much more willing to part with more then. Zubac would be useful but ultimately is just an expensive stopgap and not someone I would want as a long term fit.

  4. I don’t see any reason to give up more than 1 pick right now for a center.

The two centers we’re currently running are doing exactly what we need them to do. And when Tatum is back we can run small ball / work with Queta and Garza just fine.

Should we upgrade if the price is right? Absolutely, but like others have said, no need to overpay just because Zubac (and JJJ for that matter) are available.

  5. I’m good with Queta and Garza. Unless we’re getting Gobert, Adebayo or Chet and Tatum was already playing and looking like himself, we don’t need to make this trade.

On the one hand, you see those Bridges and Bane type deals and then you see what Washington had to give up for Trae Young.

  6. This would be too much but these comments are undervaluing Zubac for sure.

28 year old all defensive player with one of the best contracts in the league at our biggest positional need. He would be a HUGE get for this team.

  7. He’s probably the best center the C’s will have a chance at getting for the next couple years and he is on a great contract
