Pretty cool stuff
Barry Bonds and Mariano Rivera would be Dodgers if they played today
This at bat is the only reason Bonds didn’t even achieve a .800 SLG in 2002.
Goat on goat matchup
Bonds didn’t usually chase like that either, he got caught up in the moment lol turns out he’s human
Barry Bonds is literally half that size today
That flax seed oil is crazy stuff
One GOAT cheater, one actual GOAT.
*Edit* Didn’t hear about what Mariano did until now…
TWO SCUMBAGS, ZERO GOATS as it turns out.
Now I don’t cheer for Yankees normally but
Bonds is not a GOAT he’s a cheater
This video is heavily cut up and the at bat is still almost two and a half minutes long. It’s almost hard to remember that this was standard.
Weird seeing 42 on a Jersey without everyone having it.
Fuck that was cool to watch
Watching him pitch was pure joyful entertainment. Damn it Mo, why did you have to go and fuck it up. I wanted to tell my grandkids about you one day…
Every Yankee fan here, you already know if he hit those homers in pinstripes you wouldn’t even give a shit. So stuff it in your Katz pastrami sandwich and finish it
Great AB. Bonds forever – can’t wait for his induction day 🙂
Cutter is absolutely filthy look at that horizontal movement
That’s right baby boy. The HOFer takes it.
God damn the pitch clock is a good idea
SIT DOWN
Watching this has me thinking man I miss baseball and im ready for the 2026 season lol
God, I fucking love baseball.
Thee pitchh… HEstruckhimoutswinging!!!
This was the series he hit a BOMB and Jon Miller had a great call. “This one is headed to New Jersey!”
Was living in the Bay Area 2002-2006. Got to see a lot of Giants games in person and also regularly watched them broadcast on local cable. I remember a specific interview with Bonds in which he said he went into every game expecting at best just one pitch to hit. He studied detailed scouting reports and film on every pitcher he believed he would face. The hardest part was being prepared to drive that one pitch when he got it.
One of the rare times Bonds ever looked outmatched.
Why…why is the ump setting up the way he is? It has to be a trick of the camera angle, there’s no way he’s actually standing behind Bonds and peaking around, right?
I like seeing MLB stadium crowds before wearing a team’s jersey became the de facto fan uniform.
1 cheater also
Hah, this is a cool one to see. I went to a game in this series as a kid, but don’t remember any specifics of the game. My dad was a big Giants fan and this was the only time during the height of the Bonds era that they came play the NYY (which is the closest stadium to where I grew up in CT).
I am fairly sure I would’ve remembered seeing Bonds hit a HR (as he did earlier in the game), so I’m pretty sure, based on looking at the box scores, that the game I attended was the game the next day where Bonds got walked literally every single time he came to the plate. Roger Clemens also started the next day, which sounds vaguely familiar.
I hate Barry Bonds but man he’s got some good plate discipline. Mariano though, just GOATed.
Trevor Hoffman was a better closer, he just didn’t have the save opportunities Rivera did; and bonds was a hall of fame player, but GOAT? That juiced douche who literally was convicted of a federal crime because of his steroid use? So actually 0 GOATs, 2 hall of famers and 1 at bat.
There was a great quote I heard back in the day – Interleague play was introduced in MLB for two reasons: so fans can watch the Yankees and Barry Bonds
Sometimes the stars align and the perfect match up happens
Obviously, I hated watching him when he was playing, but damn do I love watching clips of Bonds nowadays. The man was just so impressive.
Pitch clock was a good idea.
Didn’t Bonds himself say the first time he faces a pitcher the pitcher might get him, but the second time he’ll put on a show
Roided strike out
Amazing
what a beast. He was once intentionally walked **with the bases loaded.**
