Jeff Passan questions why teams are hesitant to sign Tucker: “My only question, and this is for all 30 teams out there right now, is, have you seen the free-agent classes for the next two years? The best hitter who’s going to be a free agent over the next two years is probably Jeremy Peña.”

  1. It’s not a huge mystery why teams are a bit hesitant.

He’s asking for franchise cornerstone money. A long term deal probably eclipsing $400m.

He missed a month last season and over half of 2024. He’s a notoriously streaky hitter with high highs and low lows and some recent stinkers in the playoffs.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great player…but I think teams are balking at long term commitments to someone who could be a star player for them for many years or could just be a *really good* player that is getting paid like a generational talent.

  2. Bro😭, why do Astros always have to be top free agents and we end up never being on the receiving end of it
