I just wonder if he’d prefer being somewhere who gives him more minutes? Idk I don’t see him as a 4th liner. The way they’ve utilized him drives me nuts
Biggest threat is probably Philly – I think his family is still there.
This guy should retire in the blue & white. Exact type of player you hold on to and treat well. Amazing team guy, locker room guy, can play up and down the lineup, PK’s, great faceoff guy, gives it all every night. I really like him a lot.

This is pretty obvious, they paid an enormous price for him which is hard to look past. I really like Laughton as a player.
I feel like I’m already ready for this to be another huge overpay contract. Laughton is good, he’s from here and he was probably coming here anyway after this season from what I’ve heard. But he’s a 4C and a penalty killer. His current contract is 3 million per and at 31-32, he’s probably not looking to take a big pay cut. I joked with my brother that this is 100% going to be the Kampf contract thinking that was high, but I almost hope that’s what he gets because it could be a lot worse. 4×2.4 with a no trade is high for what he is, but I worry that Tre is going to sign him based on what he traded for him and based on his insane run of overpays to his own free agents.
Sign the guy asap.

This team will probably look a lot different next year no matter what happens.. Laughton, McMann, Robertson, Maccelli will all require new deals and they’re on super cheap contracts now. Except for Maccelli at 3.5..
McMann makes 1 mil which is a joke.. He’ll probably want at least 3 million and Laughton probably the same (both could probably get 4 mil in FA)…. Robertson is at 1.8 and would need a little bump and then there’s Maccelli at 3-4 maybe..
That’s a third of the forwards right there, none of them are irreplaceable,but replacements wouldn’t be much cheaper… and we have no real prospects on ELC.
Absolute no brainer. Him & Nic Roy give us worry free minutes up the middle.
Laughton has been excellent and solidified the bottom 6 and PK. Extended should be prioritized if the price is reasonable.

I’ve liked him enough but let’s not get too carried away with a month of good play. I’d like to get him signed but only if the $ make sense. It would be nice to find a way to keep Mcmann too but again I worry how much they will have to pay.
Ya but combine the two and that’s 7million per. Just saying, that’s still quite the investment
I am not highly opposed to it, but that is a lot of term. I like both players, but I am not sure where they are at in terms of cap space moving forward so I don’t know the full details
He’s been great on the PK lately and it’s nice to have an all-around utility player like him.
Plus, it seems like he’s been a good fit for the locker room filling in the chatterbox role Mitch left, except I think his chattering is less annoying than Marner.
I’ll be the first to admit I thought he was washed when we got him.

It makes sense. They paid a big price to get him, he has played better this year and we don’t exactly have a lot of center depth in the organization.

100%. He has really come into his own this year. Exactly the guy you want on your team.
If they want to do this they better make sure it gets done. If we sit on him then barely miss the playoffs and he walks in FA I’ll be annoyed.
