Does this mean danny Smith too?

  1. Yep, that means Danny. Everyone is gone, but can be brought back if the new HC re-hires them

  2. Seems like everyone is gone, even Danny Smith. Only way they stay is if the new coach wants to rehire them

  3. Article directly states the assistants are allowed to pursue other opportunities unless the new head coach makes a push to keep them. No one is gone yet. Pretty clickbaity no one got directly let go yet.

  4. Based on the article yes

Although it says they are free to explore other openings, the Steelers will NOT retain them unless the new HC pushes for their retention

  5. As it should be. I don’t need to see Danny Smith on the sidelines again. Start fresh. This team needs it.

  6. “It’s common courtesy for franchises to allow assistants who are still under contract after their head coaches are let go to explore their options, so it’s not necessarily surprising that Pittsburgh is following suit in this case.”

    Well ok then

  7. Not the first time that the steelers have started fresh with a new coaching staff. Cowhers rookie year had all new coordinators and assistant coaches. Excited for the offseason for what it may bring.

  8. Thank fucking god.

    We’re really starting all over.

I haven’t been this excited about the team in a long, long time.

  9. article notes that Scheelhaase is scheduled for a virtual interview on Jan. 16, which is relevant in that if the rams advance to the super bowl, their coaches who have already had a virtual interview can come in for an in person interview during super bowl bye week but otherwise have to wait for in person until after the super bowl. simpler obviously if the rams get eliminated this week (or next).

  10. Art can say we’re never rebuilding, but this is what rebuilding looks like. We’re winning 6 games at most next year, and I’m completely okay with it.

  11. Title is a little misleading.

Nobody has actually been fired yet, but told they can look to other oppurtunities since it’ll be up to the new HC to decide who remains.

  12. This is what happens usually when a coach goes. All the assistants go. The only reason it didn’t happen last time was because those assistants were Dick LeBeau and John Mitchell, who were universally regarded as the best at their respective jobs.

  13. Yes, that’s what usually happens when there’s a coaching change. The new guy will bring in his people.
