  1. People act like tucker is the game changer, he is not at all. Even if he goes to the Mets, the Mets would need more then a tucker to compete in 2026 and following years. Mets won't win any more then 70 games in 2026 if that

  2. There is a reason teams don't want long term deals and it has nothing to do with helping the players. Short terms deals CAN end with more money, but an injury or decline will end that. It's a gamble….the long term deal is for sure.

  3. If the deal is over $300 mil, id take it. If he takes the Mets deal and there’s no opt outs, he’ll be 32 yrs old next time he’s a free agent, if he takes a step back in those 3 years, it’s just gonna cost him money.

  4. You are taking a risk with a shorter term deal of 3-4 years. If you're a smart man, you take the 9-10 yrs at a slightly less AAV. No brainer!

  5. This isn’t that difficult. @Mets give him the short term deal with a two way player option. He can opt out after any of the first three years as well as opt in to a longer term contract similar to what Toronto is offering. This way his risk is mitigated.

  6. Maybe the guy wants to win. The Blue Jay are ready now, the Mets,……….ummmm,…..not so much. On the other hand, maybe the guy doesn't want to live in socialist Toronto.

  7. My question is this. Which player is better at scoring with men on base? Which player is more clutch? Home runs don't mean squat if you don't win the game. I rather a player have 20 HR's and scoring runners in or hit that one hit to win the game. Who has a higher mark on that, Pete or Tucker?

  8. No, the Mets don't value him the same as soto because they want him gone at 31; leaving him to rely on the market to pay the other 6/200(33m) in the midst of the next wave of young free agents hitting the market . Which isn't Impossible (the Mets think it is)

Also according to her, guys aren't getting that long term deal in their 30s.

The Mets just kicked all the Americans out of their club house (prob because they were MAGA), so I don't know that I'd choose that environment over Toronto; where they have a strong foundation of ex teammates and one of his best friends .

Besides, Mets did this before and paid those players to finish those contracts on other teams.

Toronto is building , Cohen is collecting.

  9. If Tucker wants a ring, he has one of the best options in baseball.
If he wants to gamble and chase maximum money he’ll never need — and likely never win a World Series — he also has a team. Does he want to win…or see how high his cash stack will go…knowing one "pop" in one of his legs, or shoulder…he loses 9 figures.
