Ravens GM Eric DeCosta hints that he was looking at making a trade to improve the Ravens EDGE depth chart during the 2025 NFL season. Ravens Rundown host Joey Petersen believes it could be Las Vegas Raiders EDGE rusher Maxx Crosby since he could massively improve the Ravens defense for the remainder of the season. Joey believes Eric DeCosta is going to make a move this offseason whether it is via trade or free agency to improve the roster for the 2026 NFL regular season.

Ravens GM Eric DeCosta on Ravens offseason:
“I think generally speaking, we’ve got to do a better job of creating pressure on defense. That will help the secondary, I think, being complementary on defense that way. Getting after it [and] affecting the quarterback – affecting the pocket would be something big. I’m never opposed to getting an elite, elite player. We almost made a trade at the trade deadline. We tried to make a trade, and we didn’t get it done”

  2. If Robinson was healthy this year I think he would’ve took a big step forward. Worse case I think if we can bring jones back hopefully green takes a big step and we can get woods on the draft. It might be a dream but hopefully

  3. Going into the offseason, the most important priority has to be restructuring Lamar Jackson’s contract. Freeing up cap space gives the Ravens real flexibility for free agency and potential trades, and that flexibility is badly needed.

Another major question that needs clarity is the health and future of Nnamdi Madubuike. If he’s able to return and play at the level he’s capable of, that’s huge for the defense. If, unfortunately, his neck injury forces him to retire, that also frees up significant cap space. Either way, the Ravens benefit by getting certainty.

What this team has desperately missed for years now—really since Terrell Suggs—is a dominant, consistent pass rush. Adding a true game-wrecker like Maxx Crosby, or an edge rusher of that caliber, would completely change this defense. Someone who can win on second and third down, create pressure, and actually convert that pressure into sacks.

With the right defensive-minded coordinator—or even going in a new direction at head coach with a defensive identity—this unit could finally be built the right way. Re-signing Dre’Mont Jones, who showed real promise after the midseason trade, would help stabilize the defensive front. Add complementary pieces like Jay Higgins and focus on creating waves of pass rushers, and suddenly the secondary doesn’t have to cover forever.

That’s the key point: a strong pass rush makes life easier for your cornerbacks. Football hasn’t changed in that regard. If the defensive line and outside linebackers can consistently win up front, the entire defense improves.

On offense, the priorities are clear as well: the Ravens need to address both guard spots through free agency and the draft. Any football mind knows this truth—you cannot be a dominant team unless you control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Fix the trenches, free up the cap, and build around Lamar the right way. That’s how this team gets back to where it belongs.

  4. We should trade for Crosby and Hendrickson, and sign Khalil Mack if he doesn't retire. Let's be aggressive in trades. And sign a couple good Free agents!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💜🖤

  5. EDC's comment is Defense 101… It's kind of shocking that it took him this long to figure that out. I can't believe that he thought it was just going to take care of itself, especially in this organization where defense has been paramount.
