Fuck this. We have talent. The team will gain way more from a playoff experience than this. We need to cut ersson and get Vladar a proper backup

The team is regressing to the mean. They’re *not* a **good** team, just a team that was playing unsustainable hockey in front of a goalie who was having a career year. They’re going to continue to regress back, especially if Ersson winds up making more than the occasional start. Staying competitive at this point is important, but I’m not worried about making the playoffs nor am I worried about playoff experience. I’m not pro-tank, but we’d be fooling ourselves if we thought they’d actually sneak into the playoffs.

We’re in a lull right now. A guy on here last week even predicted it with all our injuries. We’ll go on a hot streak and the whole narrative will change … again.
Really sucks there’s no game changing center this year

as long as PIT doesn’t win the lotto to pick top 5, I’m good. That and we need a top 3 pick (McKenna, Verhoeven, Stenberg)
We brought in a stop gap goalie and a 29yo career Bottom sixer and when both got off to career year starts we decided that was the end of the rebuild, and that we were a serious team.
This is the team we knew they were, they don’t have a ton of talent, They have some but not enough, and somehow management deluded themselves into thinking they were close.
This was the worst possible outcome.
If you tank and get a high pick, then that’s amazing.
If you have a good season and sniff the playoffs right to the end, because Mich had a career year, Zegras was electric, one of our Goalie prospects forced his way to the league and looked elite, or Porter/Jett forced their way onto the team and was having an elite rookie season, that’d also be great.
If you have a season where you’re a fringe playoff team because you brought in a couple stop gap veterans and they had career years, that is a failure.

This team is so far from a championship it’s not even funny, I’m okay with the free fall, the first half of the season was a big over achievement.
