[Passan] Infielder Bo Bichette and the New York Mets are in agreement on a three-year, $126 million contract, sources tell ESPN. After losing the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes, the Mets pivot quickly and get one of the best players left on the market, pending a physical.

  1. Legitimately doesn’t matter. Every other team can do whatever they want. It does not matter.

If I were the other teams, I’d just forfeit the season. Try again in 27.

  2. It’s always fun being the team that’s tied to a player but never the team that gets the player. But at least we got a theater.

  3. Damn I wish we’d go out and sign a star this offseason instead of bending over and taking it

  4. The shift from long term deals to these short 3 year deals is eyebrow raising this offseason.

  5. Can Eugenio Suarez play 2nd? Oh who am I kidding, the FO has tricked us into being “excited” for dudes like Schmitt and Koss….Why we’ll always be fighting for 4th place

  6. NL teams keep getting better and Giants are taking vacations and watching theatre.

  7. We need a salary cap, a salary floor, a shorter season, postseason series that start at 7 games with 1 seeds getting spotted 2 wins and grow to 11 games

  8. Lol we were never in for Bichette. Journalists have said all offseason the team is reluctant to add more big contracts. Our top 2 signings make a combined 21 million this year. Giants baseball, nothing like it!

  9. These kinda prices for Tucker and Bichette are why you can’t really blame the Giants for not doing anything. We have around 37-40 million space under the luxury cap so both of these AAVs would have pushed us over. Hopefully we see some more smaller moves but the whole market value has been pushed up with these 2 signing big deals.

  10. Yes, can’t wait to watch all the other teams in the playoffs this season cause we all know the Giants aren’t gonna be there yet again!

  11. On the bright side of basically running it back with the same crew, Fanfest is tomorrow!!! See y’all there!!!

  12. Yeah, Bo was never coming here, so this is pretty irrelevant minus the shock of the spending here.

However, if the proof of the need for an upcoming lockout to discuss a cap and floor based on the last 2 crazy deals isn’t enough, then may I show you Exhibit A of the vast difference in spending that needs to change for this upcoming CBA…

  13. Bregman and Bichette off the board. Brendan Donovan will have a new home soon. Only question is where.

  14. We’re going to keep sitting our hands and letting ourselves remain the Miami Dolphins of the NFL aren’t we? Or New York Jets (they’re even owned by a Johnson too)? Basically that big market team with a terrible incompetent owner who doesn’t care and shares the division with the best team the league who has a dynasty. A team that should have an advantage on paper with their market, money, roster, leadership, history, etc. but keeps messing it up. A team that is fated to start out every single season with a pretty good record to fool fans and then slowly sink into .500 mediocrity at the end year after year. I’ve been a lifelong Giants fan and I almost feel like a Miami Dolphins fan. Yes we had three World Series titles and 2021 but the disappointing thing is that those four seasons all kinda felt like just luck, like we just caught lightning in a bottle four times, rather than anything sustainable we could build upon, and we’ve sucked outside of them, plus whatever pieces we did have are long gone, meaning that we shouldn’t expect to see a season like that again under this ownership. Adames, Devers, Bailey, and JHL are a decent start but it doesn’t seem like they’re nearly enough to move the needle when you look at the competition. I really don’t want it to have to get to the point where the only viable way something changes with us is if the team is sold. Unfortunately, it seems like things are headed that way. Everyone complains about the A’s ownership, which is valid, but ours seems just as bad or worse if you remove the fact that our ballpark is great (like… so is the Rockies’ lol), while also being much worse at player development.

  15. So much for people pointing out the big spenders sitting this off season out on account of the weak free agent class or CBA…

  16. Welp, if the Giants do trade for Nico Hoerner, the price of any extension just got outrageous.
